Well, No eye deer didn't deliver, so you’re stuck with my opening again.
Last week was the first real look at what teams actually are.
Full squads, no best 18, no bad scores disappearing, and for plenty of coaches it was ugly viewing.
Now we roll into Round 6 with the damage still coming.
Budarick is hurt.
Dev Robertson has done an ACL and has to go.
Zorkflog is injured and needs to be traded too.
So if you were hoping for a nice quiet week where you could save trades and act like a mature, responsible SuperCoach adult, that’s over.
Then there’s Houston. We have a problem. A big one.
Touted as one of those safe, reliable premo picks you lock in and never think about again running off half-back pumping out tons for fun like he did at Port. But that’s when he had Sir Ken as his coach, and don’t Port miss him as well. Instead Houston has become that horrible type of player who keeps scoring shit but you find excuses for; it was wet, they got smashed, he’ll be better at the G against shit opposition. Yeah, nah. Absolute campaigner of a selection, time to seriously consider ditching him. It’s only 200k to Peeney
The one bit of good news is that DPP has finally landed, and half the players in the comp now have DPP. Bit of a joke really.
But….. it means more ways to cover injuries, more ways to fix your structure, and more ways to spend half an hour convincing yourself you’re making a smart move when really you’re just shifting the same dead weight around into slightly different spots.
Shit is getting real.
Time to find out whose team is actually any good, and whose side has been stitched together with rookie loopholes, wishful thinking, and absolute delusion.
And remember… it’s only Round 6, but your season can absolutely be over by Sunday.
