Collingwood VFL Versus Geelong VFL
Saturday 14th May
Victoria Park, 1:00pm
Preview
An interesting sort of a game who many will have a win pencilled in for the flying Magpies, however, do not count out the young Cats who have been competitive in most games this year.
Led by high draft picks Mitch Brown (3 games, 14 goals) nd Nathan Vardy (5 games, 9 goals) these young cats may cause more harm for the less than convincing Pies who sit just inside the 8 after wins over Frankston (74 points) and North Ballarat (1 point) and the beneficiary of an early bye.
Geelong, despite being 0 - 5 have been far from discgraced with many youngsters showing good early form. The aforementioned Brown/Vardy duo has caused plenty of headaches whilst VFL listed Andrew McClean should be renamed "Mr Consistency" after being named in the best after all of his 5 senior appearances this year. Josh Cowan has also been amongst it with 3 times in the best.
Collingwood have lost a wealth of experience, but have acquired a host of talented kids. Jye Bolton looks a likely type and has displayed this, named twice in the bests whilst John McCarthy is simply too good for this level, being named in the best three in 3 of his games this year.

Can Collingwood continue to beat easy teams or will the early season showings of Geelong help them to notch up their first win of the season?
AFL Watch: If you head down to the game, keep an eye out for young Andrew McClean, he is a no frills type defender/utility who just has that knack about them to be in the right spot at the right time.
Frankston Dolphins V Northern Bullants (ABC 1)
Saturday 14th May
Frankston Park, 1:10pm
Another easy win here for the Bullants one would imagine, with Frankston losing by an average of 85 points and things look bleak for the boys from the bayside city.
The Bullants can consider themselves geuine premiership contenders this year after falling just short in the past two grand finals. With North Ballarat on the slide, and another promising opening for the 'Ants', could this be their year?
With a host of Carlton listed players playing well, pressure for spots in the seniors are slim. Brock McClean will be one out to mount a case for a senior recall after a couple of promising weeks, whilst a host of VFL players led by captain Adam Iacabucci again set out to impress for the TV audience.
Some Dolphins can hold there head high, non other than young Chris Doria who has come no in leaps and bounds this year. Ruckmen Russell Gabriel is another one looking to dominate on the big stage whilst the under rated Luke Potts can really put himself in the spotlight with a dominant performace against one of the best VFL midfield's going around.

AFL Watch: One of my three boys is on show, keep an eye out for young Luke Potts (Frankston Dolphins) who has been consistently good for the Dolphins in the testing past 18 months.
A batch of young Northern kids are all out to impress, non more so than reigning Northern Knights best and fairest winner, also winner of the TAC Cup, Coaches award last year. Also, keep an eye out for Bullants Captain, Adam Iacabucci and tell me he (along with Jarrod McCorkell) is too good for this level.
Can Northern continue on there winning ways? Can the Dolphins put up a fight and record there first win in almost 18 monhts? Time will tell in front of a TV audience.
Box Hill Hawks V Sandringham Zebras
Saturday 14th May
Box Hill City Oval, 2:00pm
An intriguing game with the 7th placed Zebra's (3 wins, 1 loss, 1 bye) taking on the 9th places Hawks (1 win, 3 losses, 1 bye). In contrast to last year, the Zebra's have turned around a dismal 12 months to begin strongly in season 2011 with a raft of AFL stars again pressing for senior selection.
Ryan Gamble (8 goals, 2 games), Nicholas Heyne (8 goals, 5 games) nd Michael Lourey (9 goals, 5 games) all showing the versatility and multiple avenues to goal the Zebra's have been lacking in recent years.
James Magner (4 times in best, 5 games) and Thomas Lynch (3 times in best, 5 games) are the two boys worth looking to shut down after strong starts to the season.
Box Hill may be in some trouble after losing captain Cameron Pederson (to North Melbourne), Ed Curnow (to Carlton) and Matthew Suckling (to injury) has seen them lose a host of top line players.
Newly appointed captain Sam Gibson is out to gain some much needed respect back after a poor showing to start of season 2011.

AFL WATCH: Keep an eye out for talented Sandringham on baller James Magner. A tough on baller, built like a brick s*** house, if his form continues, AFL recruiters will simply not be able to say no to his form.
A likely win for Sandringham, however I would not dispel the wily Hawks who look set to improve on there 1 win for the year.
Port Melbourne Borough V Williamstown Seagulls
Saturday 14th May
TEAC Oval, 2:00pm
Match of the round sees 1 v 2 with both sides undeafeated. With Port Melbourne returning to a super power and Williamstown at the top of their game, this should be a classic.
Port Melbourne, led by former AFL listed players Adam Bentick, Nathan Batsanis, Sam Pleming and reigning JJ Liston Medalist Shane Valenti all have a point to prove, that alignments are the reason for success.
With Patrick Rose (19 goals) in scintilating form, aly assisted by Dean Galea (16 goals) and Chris Cain (8 goals) all providing multiple avenues to goal for the 'Borough', a tough ask for the Gulls defence that has leaked over 15 goals per game.
However, don't count out the Gulls, with Mitch Hanh in top form with 16 goals for the visitors and Brett Goodes back to his best in Victoria (5 matches, 10 goals, 3 times in best) the Gulls also have multiple avenues in attack.
The main reason for the Gulls success this year has arguarbly been the midfield dominance, and the spread they have of players who have played above there best. Ben Davies, Ben Jolley, Brett Goodes and Nathan Djekuura all having played well this season.

Casey Scorpions V Bendigo Bombers
Sunday 15th May
Casey Fields, 2:00pm
Another top match with the resurgent Bendigo Bombers coming up against pereniall finals contenders Casey Scorpions in what promises to be a top line match.
Bendigo, led by resurgent skipper Ben Duscher (5 matches, 5 goals, 3 times in best), along with a host of Essendon listed players. Ricky Dyson (3 times in best, 5 matches), Alex Browne (twice in best, 2 matches) and Andrew Welsh (twice in best, 3 matches) all pushing cases for senior selection.
With the lagging avenues to goal last year, coach Shanon Grant addressed this issue and recruited heavily in the off season, proving a success. Matt Little (19 goals) and Tory Dickson (14 goals) proving there worth so far this season.
Casey on the other hand have lagged badly to start season 2011. With victories against bottom teams Geelong (Rd 1), North Ballarat (Rd3) and Frankston (Rd 5) showing the stop/start season they have had.
James Wall (5 matches, all in the best) again showing he wants another crack at the top level and Melbourne listed players MAtthew Warnock (twice in best), Michael Evans (twice in best) and Neville Jetta (twice in best) all pushing for a senior recall.
Michael Newton (4 matches, 13 goals) and Matthew Bate (4 matches, 11 goals) are leading the Scorpions forward, with the aid of a slimmer looking Brendan Fevola, the Scorpions attack is more potent than 101ppg average suggests.

North Ballarat Roosters V Coburg Tigers
Sunday 15th May
Eureka Stadium, 2:00pm
An interesting game that sees reigning premiers North Ballarat take on the luckless Coburg Tigers. In what could be a make or break season for the Roosters, the win will lift them inside the 8 and consolidate 8th place.
With plenty of experience lost from the Roosters lineup, with Shaun Moloney, Stephen Cilfton, Nick Peters, Josh Smith, Cory Jones, David Hale, Stephie Dinnell, Dan Feery, Isaac Smith, Nick Couch and Clint Benjamin all missing from that premiership team. That is half the premiership team gone. However a team that still consists of Myles Sewell, Orren Stephenson, Matt Sharkey, Marc Greig and Billy Driscoll can not be counted out.
Coburg, led by Michael Tanner, Nick Carnell and Andrew Browne have really struggled this year. Goals have been scarce with Nick Carnell (9 goals) leading the charge and young James Lawton (5 goals) showing signs.

AFL WATCH: Derrick Miccaleff (North Ballarat) showed plenty of promising signs as a run and carry player and has been likened to fellow VFL recruit Isaac Smith. Could he push for an AFL career late like so many others?
With round 7 promising so much, this match could be the fizzler, with the under manned Coburg taking on a resurgent North Ballarat.
Round 7 shapes a very big round, with so many promising matches between top teams, and bottom teams looking to chalk up there first wins. We could see some very big moves in the 8, with one of the undefeated set to become, unbeaten, Casey and Bendigo looking to firm inside the top 4, Box Hill and Sandringham looking to move inside the 8, and Collingwood/Geelong looks better on paper than what it may prove.
