Got one too many defenders for mine - Gov, Schoey, Hurn, Butts, Bennell, Shep, Wellers, Nelson. One will have to play another role, possibly Hurn to break a likely tag

Selwood into his 8th year and still to this day the MC and everyone else has not found a position for him that he can call his own. Is he a midfielder? A tagger? A back pocket?
As the club feels he is a walk up start he should after all of these years have a place in the team that he owns. There is hundreds of blokes that would love 8 years to find their feet.

Having said that the club is doing pretty well at the minute so I am happy to back them in, we are getting lots of enjoyment watching them right now so here's hoping that continues.

Duggan played three games for East Perth and then three games as sub before playing a full game. He was hardly rushed into the side.

In his first season. 2 games as sub I think. Proves that we should not discount the contribution a first year player can have. When compared to College in those 3 ep games his stats were not as high yet he was still selected to play seniors first. That was a good decision and by our normal standards we are rushing first year players in because thats what it takes to develop these capable young players. Rushing doesn't have to be negative, especially when there is a bevy of senior players at hand. We have done this well in 2015

I never discounted first year selection at all. I merely stated rushing a youngster in (who may not necessarily be deserving of a spot) is not particularly any better than rushing Selwood back.
