One of the best years as a kid although Carlton eventually overtook us and we lost a game against Melbourne we should have won that year. Was great to beat Essendon in the semi after being 5 goals down.

yeah i agree, beating essendon in the 2nd semi was the best game i have seen in my life as a Richmond supporter, didnt get much better that day! Chris Bond and Scott turner starred and what about matty Knights 4 or 5 bounce goal! Magic it was

what a year! i can remember pretty much the whole year. where i was for each game, how much we won by etc.
wayne campbell got shafted for quite a few brownlow votes IMO. i was looking at the stats from most of the games. there were a few where he would have 30 touches but no brownlow votes.
that semi final was one of the greatest wins ive seen. i think i got a little to excited and had to nurse a blood nose half way through the game which stopped me from jumping around everywhere for awhile.
the prelim final is one to forget though.

Remember that year well.

The night Richo tore Nth apart.

The drawn game with the Bombers.

First win against West Coast in ten years at Optus.

That semi-how could any Tiger forget that?:)

that night game vs north was also daffy's night.

ive still got the fighting fury (i think its called that) video for the year. only about 45 mins long but :thumbsd:

from memory it was chris bonds best year ever.

i remember year 12 that year being a tiger, although studying meant a lack of games. However the school diary was littered with round by round team lineups.

Round 9 - swans game saw richo and wigney go down with knee injuries :(

The team (IMO)

B: Bond Turner Tape
HB: Prescott Wigney% M. Gale
C: Maxfield Knights Campbell
HF: Rogers B. Gale Richardson*
F: Daffy Edwards Dundas
R: Dear, Broderick, Free
Int: Bourke, D. Kellaway, Bower, Murphy/Merenda

* - Jurica/Charles came into the side when Richo went down.
% - Bulluss replaced Wigney?

Bower was dominant whenever we played against wce (vs Matera)

Dundas was a laugh.:D

it's nice to look back at what a great club we are but we need to focus on the future cause if we do well once we have a balanced strong list by 2011 (i dont need to explain why i think you should all know) but yeah when we have a strong list we could win a few flags and go up there as one of the clubs with the most flags.

one of the worst yrs to happen to our club in our history along with 01. on both occasions inflated results led to massive overestimation of the lists which has led to abject failure.

dont knock it, that proves that coaches can do with less and they dont need here until eternity.

Yes. Northy had a really simple and easy approach to football. Mark the ball, hand ball to the running man who kicks it 50 meters forward.
Easy and effective.

and don't forget "we're the tigers eat em alive", win and i'll wave my jacket!!!! :thumbsu:

Yeh.

Pitty the <unt had no loyalty. A Northey/Richmond partnership could have went very far. Because he left, neither of us got anywhere.

Although its interesting our main players in 1995 we're also important in 2001. B. Gale, Campbell, Knights, Richardson, D. Kelleway. Could have built a successful side around that group.

Ohwell wasnt to be, but we have heaps to look forward to!

Sure can't, but one thread every now and then can't hurt :)

Come on, lets hear some more good 1995 memories! It's always been my favourite season in football.

Despite all the wins we took some pumpings that season. Geelong had the wood over us, Brisbane smashed us and North served us up on a plate a couple of times. Also St. Kilda beat the sh*t out of us at Waverly.

Richo finished the season in round 9 against Sydney with 27 goals 3 behinds. What could have been...

alright you oldies, time to lookt owards the future now, can't keep living in the past:rolleyes:

Dont break up a party unless you have a better one to take us to.

I would be interested to see how our old GF DVDs sell in comparison to other clubs.

I thought the reason this thread was brought up was because Geelong brought us down to earth twice that year. I think it was around Round 9 or 10that they thumped us at the MCG. Really exposed us that day.

And why didn't we win the comp that year

Dunkley pushing Richo into the fence of short boundaries at the SCG and that Carlton bought the 95 Premierhip and Carlton has suffered big time in rcent years for it
