I hope Hanners is fit and this isnt a play him into form game against a weaker side.

Mccartin staying I don't mind at all. Give him some confidence against a weaker defence than hawthorn

I like McCartin staying in. Anchors the forward line and always provides a contest. Just hope Buddy returning doesn't change his role, what we want is Buddy playing up the ground ala GWS game and ideally McCartin playing a similar role to Reid staying inside 50.

Towers will probably be back next week against Brisbane's Martin and McInerney

I know it was a tough game in tough conditions, but mccartin wasnt very impressive last week. Still so young and plenty of time to develop. His kicking seriously poor

Being a bit hard on him - He was asked to come into the forward line be a target and bring the ball to ground. He delivered that. His tackle pressure is going to be very good for the Swans and there was a few glimpses of that. His kicking needs work but give him time, youngest guy in the league. Probably one of those like Reid that when he hits it right it's beuatiful to watch but when they don't it ain't pretty.

So, from reading this thread, as I understand it the marketing team told Longmire to name Buddy in the team and 3 time All-Australian Dan Hannebery after missing 3 games should come back via the reserves.

Back in my reality still not keen on having just the 3 genuine defenders and for me Cameron makes more sense than McCartin, who I thought was OK,but nothing more last week.

suprised with towers. he's been kicking pretty well and setting up a few shots on a goal. didnt have a great game last weak but has shown a bit all year. Guess McCartin needs to stand up and take his chance then since I think towers has been pretty good with pressure this year. All the best to the young fella. Towers must feel hard done by though.

You can't agree with Buddy, Lance Franklin coming in?

You think Towers or Robinson is slighted by being replaced by Buddy?

That all depends on how the players viewed the announcement that Buddy would not play. That was emphatic on Monday from the coach. Were they just told a porky or has the voltaren they were rubbing on Buddy,s heel a miracle cure?
What gets up my nose is the continued criticism of those obviously not in Buddy's class. I ask who is?,,
All of last year it was Jack,Towers,Rohan and this year we have set upon Papley, Jack,Towers, McVeigh when he turns over a couple (forget the brilliant rescues he does week after week to clear out back half).
Let's also have a crack at Cunningham as well (funny how he is now the fair haired boy when he put Smith out of business).
Heeney has been magnificent for us this year, is castigated for wayward kicking. Of course he makes mistakes...so does Roger Federer.
Our 200 game hero, Smith has even been mentioned in dispatches this week. Those who value his contributions have noted his nil count in the brownlow, a tribute to his fortitude and all the important things to him that make the Swans his main focus.
Oh yeah, that Mills guy needs a few weeks in the seconds (forget how he has been outstanding standing under so many without a slight thought of not getting to the contest)...... you can also read Rohan into that scenario (how come he is never there when it counts) Well folks he was there last Saturday night.
Now the favourite this year appears to be Robinson, sight unseen for most of the critics on this board...they cannot even remember his top class efforts early last year when he was an automatic pick.
Don't pick him though....he is just a no name or at best 26th.
Both Robinson and Towers know that Buddy is head and shoulders above them ....and everybody else.
My point is that they stood up on Saturday night and were part of a team that got us home. Towers has stood up to people in the ruck when he was overwhelmed for weapons. Gave Sinclair a little time off...maybe that was not important.
If Franklin and Hannebery are fit, we have no argument they should not be in. Are they fit.....that is the question. Both will be under the hammer in different ways on Saturday night. One facing a formidable mid field with not a lot of fitness work, the other with possible three defenders treading all over him.
Heaven forbid either goes down early with a re-occurrence. Should that happen we all may feel Robinson and Towers have been undersold well and truly.

You sound like Mike Fitzpatrick...trying to put those words into everyone’s mouth! AFL has always been about best 22 for any particular game. Robinson and Towers aren’t!

Totally agree with everything, except that it was Friday night.

Buddy was always coming back this week. I could have told you if asked last Thursday for that was the day I traded him out of my SC team. Sure to kick a bag. Looking forward to seeing him work with our new number one forward.
I guess McCartin will be second ruck now Towers is out.
Robinson pretty hard done by given he really put in last week.
I hope we get to see the Hanners that can run....and run.

Robinson is a depth player no loss.
Towers would have added little as a back up ruck this week. Sandilands will dominate with Sinclair pushing him around the ground.

So what are you suggesting as an alternative....perhaps Ronke could run between his knees to pick up the loose ball gets.

If Buddy plays please for the love of God keep him around the arc. Get him delivering the ball into our smalls and also push Pearce up the ground.

That's how we used him in Round 3, and I think we should do this more often.
