So for all those who tanked in Rd 8 so to speak

this is apparently your round.

Only trouble is that everyone else is upgrading as well and most people will be at least fielding 20+ players

Rd 8 was the round to make a massive jump in overall rankings imho

Fielded 20 last week ended up with 1822, done 3 trades and got 19 for this week and my projected is over 2000. I :hearts: the byes.

You're right... in my case I had a big jump this week and I am now ranked 5760 and have 21 players playing these week. Have added Stevie J to the mix... he may well have a tough game against the Dockers, but I want him in so in he is!

+1 to this. Must say I was a bit hesitant once I saw his B/E but I'd rather have his score his week and have him in my side even if it costs me 10k. Can't see him falling below 610k for the year.

Exactly! Especially when he has scored above or on his BE 4 out of 7 games this season. Go Stevie J!!!

Should be in the "Nailed it" thread. My thoughts exactly and it worked.

Bringing in 2 Round 8 bye guns this week ;)

I paid absolutely no attention to the byes. 16 played including Rioli, Gardiner, Robertson and many more lackluster scorers. Not to mention I work nights, got tired late afternoon on Friday, did the trade of Mitchell to Hodge thinking it would be ok, woke up in the 3rd, turned the tv on to see Hodge sitting in the coaches box. That sort of **** ruins your weekend. Ended up with 1282 for the week.
Went from 1200th to 7000th. At least my midfield should hold up this week. image.jpg

probably going to sideways what i thought were 2 forward keepers in Cyril and Chappie
what a waste :(

gives me 1 trade to bring in Selwood or attempt to fix the debacle that is my defense (bleeding points and cash with Suckling, Lmac, Laidler and Georgiou)

EDIT: i thought this was the trades thread

And to all those who jumped off Impey for Ambrose, welcome to your round 8 nomination for the rising star

A lock in the Port Adelaide team for a while now you would say!

who cares if he is a norwich rising star, this is SC FFS

dude you really have to let it go, your fascination on Impey is bordering on stalking.

FWIW - Impey with amazing great JS has a b/e of 36 with a guaranteed zero points this week

Ambrose has a b/e of -35 or something, will score points maybe even like 60 odd and amazingly will go up in cash value by like $50,000 or something

This is my last comment on Impey v Ambrose

Nah, when you get lambasted for offering a perfectly reasonable piece of advice that happens to go against the majority opinion, you tend to take a bit of added interest to how it all eventually turns out

I'm not sure why you'd want Impey on your bench stinking it up with 30's every week. Ambrose has alread made more cash and will make another 50k this week. There must have been really slim pickings for him to get the RS this week.

How it turned out? You mean Impey losing 16k and going down to under $150k. Ambrose making nearly $50k, and probably another $50k next week yet scoring the same as Impey WAT

How many cash cows do you need though? You cant cull them all. If i dont sell Impey, his short term fluctuations are irrelevant.

Before last weeks trades, I had the following as cash generators :

Langdon
Langford
Kelly
Robertson
L. Taylor
M. Thomas
Dunstan
Derryx
Polec
Kennedy Harris
Lloyd
Fasolo
Impey

All who will (or already have) got to 300k. Ok maybe Impey wont get there, but i dont need him to. If i was to have brought in Ambrose it would make more sense to cull a rookie who will actually have net me 200k, not 60k.

Im not against the bringing in of Ambrose, it was that using Impey to do it was pointless as you would be better off culling a fully cooked rookie rather than one who is half baked and looks like will be a regular fixture in the team. And especially for a rookie who i believe has limited scoring potential himself, so it wasnt like you were swapping him for an O'Meara or Tommy Mitchell from previous years.

Most people who have bought in Ambrose probably wont sell him as they will have other more profitable rookies to cull and a trade bank that will be starting to dwindle when he peaks at 250k. As such he will end up doing exactly as Impey will do for me. Sit on the pine and spit out 40-50 when required. Except ill have the extra trade in the bank

Same reason i probably wont trade out Georgiou if he can get regular games and spit out his 30-50. With limited trades i want to make each one count and get max $ benefit.

All this changes with injuries etc, but that's in the lap of the gods

There are always rookies that turn up. The wild man from StKilda played his first game...Shenton? and he's a mid/fwd I believe and did fairly well. There will always be an opportunity to cash in on someone like Ambrose in order to upgrade a JKH/Taylor

Hartung, Aylett, even Bocky should be back shortly.

Not to mention the obligatory mid season rookie upgrades

If Shenton became a viable option id be more likely to trade a 300K Lloyd than a 220K Ambrose (if i had him) in that scenario for the same reasons i mentioned above

Round 8 did wonders for my overall ranking.

I love the byes. :D:thumbsu: :rainbow:

I prefer depressed Judd

hope Lions don't make LTaylor the sub! :(

might be his turn as leppa seems to have a sub rotation policy going.

However Leppas comments after their loss on the weekend would certainly mean he and Cutler have decent job security
