What happened to Andrew Symonds?

I didn't see most of the Australian innongs because I was playing Baketball but is the injury serious? Will he play tomorrow?

Re: What happened to Andrew Symonds?

He hurt his arm real bad and left on the first flight back home to England.

Re: What happened to Andrew Symonds?

Broken arm, prolly need amputation.

Re: What happened to Andrew Symonds?

He was w****ing too hard. I've sustained the injury myself several times. Shocking stuff, that.

He went of an inside out shot over backward point, and as soon as he was through the shot, he grabbed his bicep and winced in a bit of pain. Very unlikely to play tomorrow, and would be in some doubt for the final series as well.

Re: What happened to Andrew Symonds?

If need be, rest him until the WC warm up games. No point wasting him on the rubbish tri-series and the Chippell-Hidlee series

I agree bus24.
Was exactly my point with Punter as well. When we don't have to risk the players, then we shouldn't. It's that simple.

Re: What happened to Andrew Symonds?

Same goes for Gilchrist. FFS, he's played 5 Tests and 7? ODIs in succession, at his age, he should be rested a fair bit.

Roy to go under the knife

Not good news!

Aussie star Symonds faces surgery

Symonds was unable to continue his innings despite on-field treatment

Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds is to undergo surgery after rupturing the biceps tendon in his right shoulder during their loss to England in Sydney.
He was forced to retire hurt after making 39 and his chances of playing in the World Cup could now be in doubt.
Team doctor Trefor James declined to speculate on how long the 31-year-old would be out of action.
But Symonds said: "I feel optimistic about the future because I know I'm a good healer."
He will play no further part in the current Commonwealth Bank Series and has only six weeks to recover before Australia's opening World Cup game against Scotland in St Kitts.
Symonds is a vital member of the one-day side, having scored more than 4,000 runs in 161 games, including the 2003 World Cup final, and taken 121 wickets and 69 catches.
His injury is doubly worrying for the selectors because Australia's other all-rounder, Shane Watson, has not played international cricket since last November's ICC Champions Trophy because of a hamstring injury.
Symonds admitted: "We won't know how bad this injury is until after the surgery. I felt it go during the game...I batted on but the pain was considerable and I was advised by the team physio, Alex Kountouris, to come off." Dr James said Symonds would undergo "intensive physiotherapy" following the surgery. He added: "His return to cricket will depend on his progress."

I think he is the reason why he does'nt get rested, he does not waant to be rested.

Re: Roy to go under the knife

Hodge has been tried and has failed miserably. He cannot handle one-day cricket at international level and other players should be given a chance now.

His pathetic ODI scores: 13, 0, 59, 5, 2, 0, 1

HODGE is HISTORY

Cant bat, cant bowl, cant field :thumbsd:

Re: Roy to go under the knife

Hodge does so well playing for Vic but I cannot look when he comes out the bat for the Aussies. he just cant seem to make the transition.
There was hope for him in the first ODI he played this summer when his fielding was awesome.... but my god the shot he went out on the other night was just poor.
Its time to blood someone young and new.

Re: Roy to go under the knife

What a blow for Symonds and Australia... :thumbsd:

Watson has to be a certainty now if he's fit. I hear he has found some form of late, so that's good news. But it's very hard to replace someone in the caliber of Andrew Symonds, who I consider to be one of the best all-rounders in ODI cricket and one of the best Australia have ever produced, so as you can see it's no easy task.
We'll miss you Roy!

Re: Roy to go under the knife

Terrible, Terrible news.

Dont really have any confidence in any of Hodge, Watson or any of the names they wanna replace him with.

But ya never know :)
