If it was a team that was struggling when he took over and didn't have the largest resources in the comp then yes

but otherwise...no

would rather Ron Fuller
He has kept them at the top, stopped them falling down the ladder and are again leading the competition.

What more can the man do?

Nothing. Can't believe people cannot give credit where credits due. He has done a sensational job. Whether or not he could have done it elsewhere is beside the point. He has continually had to contend with large changes to his squad, yet they keep producing year after year.

wasn't it mentioned in the paper that the club has been after him to do a role in the football department or something along those lines somewhere in the 'possible replacements for Craig' spread the other day?

I would say that it is just as hard to keep a team at the top of the ladder and make 8 consecutive grand finals (with an 88% success rate) than it is to take a team that is struggling to be competitive.

Modern day football is cyclical and it is very very very rare for a team to be up for so long no matter the standard of the competition.

Roy Laird = Superstar

I'm not suggesting he hasn't done a great job - what I am saying is he has resources avaiable to him that no other SANFL coach has.

It is a bit like Port in the 80's and 90's if they wanted something they just bought it if they wanted a player they got him no questions asked.

Ron Fuller turning South into a competitive unit to me is more impressive given their history of being complete duds for longer than Centrals have been successful.

You can also look at what Fuller did with the Eagles during the 2000's the fact that he got the that team to where he did is phenomenal. (IMO)

Most people know the answer to this...

Would perhaps be good as a development style coach instead of an asssistant/head coach.

Would Roy Laird be a worthy assistant at Adelaide? I would say yes:thumbsu:. He would provide more value than some who are already there IMO.

His flying issues are a big set-back, but I would love to see him at the Crows. I think he would be a marvellous assistant coach, but I don't think he would swap being the head coach of Centrals for being assistant at Adelaide somehow.

First, get off the flying rumour, he is no more nervous of flying than anyone else.

Second, Roy does not like AFL, he does not even watch it.

Third, His family means a lot to him he spends much quality time with the kids.

Finally. he is very meticulous in preparation, spends many late hours in team prep, and the study of other teams. He deserves all his success because he works hard for it.

PS: Some people will never be satisfied, what aload of rot, to say that his success is because he inherited a decent team, you may argue that for the first year or two, but fair go he has them 9 years at the top. More good management than luck.

PPS: He is a rare, real estate salesman: honest:thumbsu:

I am not on the payroll, I am a tigers supporter.
