LOL!

I reckon Judd will be played in the AFL from the start though they may play Hansen in the WAFL for a few games. Still, we're going to kick some arse next year!

I thought the host club was history.

I hope so because it stuffed up the competition and footy in WA (without helping the Eagles or the Frockers).

If you don't believe me, cast your eye down the draft list and see how many players in the national draft were taken from Western Australia, discounting "home town picks" like Sampi, Polak, Seaby, Browne & Medhurst.

Last I heard was that unofficially the host club agreement has been scrapped. Don't know if this is in writing anywhere?

Judd is ready
Hanses in 18 months off

I hope it is kept because we need a reserve team to allow players to learn to know each other and become more cohesive. My preference, though is a national reserves league with a Freo and Eagles side each made up of Eagles contracted players and other hopefuls.

Anyhow.....I would have to choose between Royals and my old side Subi again.

ps It would also mean that I only go to the occassional WAFL game. Numbers have increased as Eagles and Freo supporters started following their host clubs. If it is scrapped they would diminish.

Don't think so? Haven't seen any evidence to that effect. The "hardliners" who follow the WAFL tend not to be too fussed about AFL, they just follow their traditional club. On balance, I'd say they appeal to different people for different reasons.

There are some like me who follow both and some who will only attend AFL. The WAFL GF attendance between the two "reserve" sides this year was a disgrace (though I went and I follow West Perth!).

But I acknowledge that there may be some drop off - eg Frodo.

Until last year(2000) i had never really followed WAFL, i sorta followed Subi as my Dad Does, but then last year i began going for East perth, and over the two years i have indeed become a strong supporter of them, so even if the host club arangement is disbanded I will still follow and support them, and when i move to Perth i will go to they're games!
I know this is the same with many of my friends, but many of them will stop following East Perth now, and just follow AFL again.

Host club setup.

Interesting topic, the last I heard was that it may continue but only for one more year only two clubs are for it, so the club presidents are putting pressure is on the WAFC to make a decision.
