As a massive fan of the C&C Genre and now addicted to Company of Heroes. Has anyone got any advice on similar type games that are worth playing please?

Halo Wars - by Ensemble Studios (Age of Empires series) built form the ground up for the Xbox 360:

And on that note, Age of Empires 3 is quite good. I was just about to get back into it. The expansions will give you a bit of variety in teams.

Total Annihilation all time great

Supreme Commander is okay but a little too 'extremely' slow paced, plus the level layouts are quite boring and repetitive

Most C&C games I have found very boring... Nothing special... Tiberian Sun was the best.

Company of Heroes obviously quite good...

Currently though I am playing Sins of a Solar Empire which is great fun online, good variation in ships and 'commander' ships, good development...

Currently playing through Company of Heroes. I know, got to it late.

How good is that game?

I'm hearing you raffrox! Until my graphics card shat itself last week I had been playing this about 5 times a week with the old vs CPU games. Have you tried having a crack at the Opposing Fronts? I found the new teams: British and Panzer Elite, weren't as fun as the originals.

There's nothing like setting up a sniper somewhere and giving them some curry when they're trying to snatch a flag! :thumbsu:

is company of heroes a full time RTS or more of a smaller scale real time tactical like World In Conflict where you are more worried about a small amount of units than building up a massive base.

I haven't got Opposing Fronts but I think I will pretty soon.

CoH is sort of a mix between a World in Conflict and a Starcraft type rts. ther4es limits on the units you can build so its more about strategy, not just getting a mass of units and overpowering the oppposition.

I just read up on that World in Conflict and it looks okay on Wikipedia. Sort of a dumbed down COH but if it's influenced by COH and similar to C&C: Generals than it's worth a look.

I love the Halo franchise but IMHO Halo Wars will suck, my reasoning is there will be only two playable races and the gameplay will be too simple and boring.

Can you still buy Total Annilihation these days from places like EB?

I'd get onto Ebay for the older games.

I just picked up the game I was referring to earlier for $20 2nd hand.

Interesting theory. You realise Total Annihilation only had 1 race (apart from minor cosmetic changes)? Age of Empires only had humans, with 1 or 2 different units depending on variant.

What makes you say the gameplay will be boring?

TA is free now I believe, but apparently there is a heavily modded version called TA: Spring that rocks. Haven't tried it myself, but it comes very heavily recommended.

I think that side of Halo Wars will rock. I'm more worried about an rts on a console. Still not sold on that.

The original C&C I played on Playstation and remember it playing well on that and probably now if I had to go back to a console I couldn't do it!

I think he means "species."

AOE does indeed have only 1 specie but there are heaps of "races" such as, depending on what version you're playing, Romans, Greeks, Vikings etc...

Yeah, but the difference was p small. 2 completely different races is arguably more variety.
