With at least 4 young potential ruckmen, who is our ruck coach in '08. Did we try to get Simon Madden or did the saints beat us to him?

Simon Madden is the Saints ruck coach (i think) and i'm not sure but i think that i read somewhere that Stephen McKee is our ruck coach. (not sure on either, and please anyone correct me if i'm wrong.
Definetly should be a major priority getting a descent ruck coach for the young boys.
Australia's best swimming coaches have had relatively uninspiring swimming careers themselves. Some of the best tennis coaches were average players themselves (Roger Rasheed) & I don't think Charlie Earp would ever pretend he was a champion golfer, but he certainly taught Greg Norman plenty. Steve McKee could turn about to be an inspired choice as ruck coach, or he could be a dud. Time will tell.

in fact often a journeyman type player will be a better coach because of the effort, thought & extra training they might require to compete in a top grade unlike a natural player
That is exactly right. That is why Teague should make a good VFL coach & development coach.
Yeh, but who said that superstars aren't journeyman who put in lots of effort and extra training?in fact often a journeyman type player will be a better coach because of the effort, thought & extra training they might require to compete in a top grade unlike a natural player
Tbh, i really don't know anything about who is a good ruck coach and who isn't.Define 'decent ruck coach'. For the last couple of years we had Gary Dempsey as part-time ruck coach. Now we have Steven McKee. Does a great career automatically transfer into being a great coach? Of course it doesn't. Tom Hafey (67 VFL games) was a far better coach than Ted Whitten (321 VFL games).

Was it Gary Dempsey who had the massive health scare during the year? I assume we have a back up but there have been no announcements
