Our most concerning list problem IMO.

Jolly has to be a worry with the knee problem. Leroy won't be there next year. Witts and Ceglar would have to be 4-6 years away from AFL level and IMO Cameron Wood is a bust.

As is once again being shown in this years finals, you need a strong, physical ruckman to go deep into the finals. It should be even more obvious to us as we got thrashed in the ruck in the 2002(except for the brief period Anthony Rocca spent in the ruck) and in 2003. And it was only when we got Jolly that we became a Premiership side.

IMO we need to look at some strong, physical ruckmen 24 years and above.

We would be looking to find a senior ready made utility to replace Leigh Brown, keep an eye on other clubs delistings to see who could fill the void that we could snare with a late draft pick.

Somebody like a Matthew Warnock from Melbourne, strong senior big bodied bloke. Needs to be a utility though, i'm not sure if he could pitch in the ruck, i'm just using him as an example because he is the only one i can think of that will be available at the moment. Plenty more of these types are bound to pop up.

Keefe will never be our number 1 ruck. Never. Not tall or solid or aggressive enough to fill the role. Try someone else.

He's tall enough. He's the equal tallest player on the list at 204cm, alongside Wood, Ceglar and McNamara. Actually Cameron Wood when he came to the club was the tallest player ever for Collingwood, I don't know who is the tallest out of the 4 @ 204.

He can't really ruck though at this stage you're right about that.

Just a point about the ruck vs. WCE. We had the same amount of hit outs to advantage as WCE.

Broc McCauley Delisted.

Broc McCauley was delisted from the Lions today. Given the fact our ruck stocks are not that deep he might be worth looking at with a late draft pick?
:)

Re: Broc McCauley Delisted.

What's wrong with our ruck stocks?

Jolly will play next year, Wood looks much improved, Witts will play sooner than most think and Ceglar has shown a bit in the VFL. Even Shae looked okay in the back half of the season, although I think his age is going to count against him come player review time.

I've only seen McCauley play once, although I thought he looked alright. He is a good size and seems reasonable athletic for a ruckman. Being delisted by Crazy Vossy shouldn't mean he is a write off.

I'd think if he was worth going after though, there'd be a few teams that were not only keener than us but also in a much better position to acquire his services, i.e. Richmond.

Re: Broc McCauley Delisted.

Yep, exactly what I thought.

Then I checked the stats, has played 3 games, nah I'll back Ceglar and the Behemoth (Witts).:D

Re: Broc McCauley Delisted.

His first 2 games were good in fact in only his second game he got 37 hit outs and 18 possessions.

Given demand for rucks either he has an attitude problem or its just crazy vossy doing his usual stuff.

Given Brisbane are likely to lose Mitch Clarke, it doesn't fill you with confidence that McCauley is chopped at Brisbane. Haven't seen enough to judge, but that's what you'd expect.

Worth mentioning because he has ability and because a team delists a player doesnt mean they can't play

Does anyone follow the development of Shae M closely?

I'm interested to see where he's at especially with our shocking ruck division + prospects atm and leading into next year.

Caught him a few times on that magpie podcast and CTV and he seems super motivated and like he really loves the club!
