If it turns out we get this Meeson fella (I don't know much about him) will be trade/get rid of PJ or Jamar? If so, what could we get for them? And would Meeson slot straight into our best 22?

I think all three would battle it out for that 2nd spot, with the best two taking over full time from White at years end.

PJ would still be the 2nd best I'd like to think.

Four decent ruckmen seems a bit top heavy don't ya think? (pity none of them are first class)
do we still have Neaves on our list as well??

Neaves got delisted and so far we have 1 good ruckman and 3 potential hacks (though I see the light in PJ and possibly Meesen)

Paul Johnson is not a proper ruckman.. he is a forward!

He will be groom alongside Newton to smash everything in their path.

We might score Meesen for pick 37 or for free in the Pre season draft... Sneaky!

perfect scenario in my mind would have been....
-White kept on until he retires (end of '08 or '09) OR traded for a draft pick
-Meesen recruited
-Neaves promoted
-PJ kept
-Young ruckman drafted
-Jamar traded

This would mean White would be #1 ruck with Neaves and Meesen fighting fdor number two ruck and Johnson playing permanent forward. OR if White was traded then Neaves, Meesen and PJ would share ruck duites (all in the one side with PJ doing the least) until one of them could of taken the number 1 mantle and PJ would go permanent forward and the young guy could develop and we would get something for Jamar.
But for some reason Neaves was cut meaning that White will stay on as #1 ruck, Paul Johnson will play permanent forward. Meesen and Jamar fight for #2 ruck with Meesen more than likely losing out.

The plan of attack should now be to draft a ruckman this year and next. Play PJ forward, Meesen and one of the draftees ruck when White retires and then trade Jamar or turn him into a full back.

I actually with with the arrival of Meesen PJ should be groomed into a KP player, preferably a forward.
I honestly think he's got the potential to play a position like that.

We will keep all four ruckmen. I think that is a good number to have on your list. Like we saw in 2006, when Jamar and Johnson both went down during September, we had to call up Smith for the all important Semi Final against Fremantle. Can't afford to let that happen again.

With all due repsect i doubt we are going to need to worry about any September action unforunately. If we can get something of value for White (St.Kilda maybe?) then we should do it and as i said draft a young ruck this year letting him develop at Sandy with Messen and Jamar with a little bit of PJ ruck. Before people go nuts and say don't trade White, we can start to rectify the problem now and get a pick out of it or we can wait 1-2 years for Whitey to retire and then deal with the problem.... 2 years late and with no draft pick

Who in their right mind would offer something of value for Jeff White, unless the offer is a second round pick or better we may as well keep Jeff to see out his career with us.

Assuming they are still at the club by 2010, Paul Johnson will be 25, Mark Jamar will be 26 and John Meesen will be 23 years old.

Perfect age.
