He is beginning Pre-Season training with North Melbourne on Monday along with Darren Hulme and Tim Flemming. Jeez I hope we don't pick either one up.

Why would someone want Betheras he is about 30 now and you would be much better to have a punt on a kid.
I'm not into furry animals but I am partial to a highly trained gerbil.

He start training with the roos on monday and has had discussions with both MM and Laidley.

This is why he was spotted at the lexus centre last week.

Please help me here.

Betheras was delisted by Collingwood last season. Correct?
He didn't get picked up by anyone this year. Correct?
He played with ............ [who?] in 2004?
He won ........ [which competition B&F?] in 2004?

He's another year older (just turned 29 now) - who in their right mind would draft him now?

Ridiculous post

Former Pie career hope
07 November 2004 Sunday Herald Sun
By JACKIE EPSTEIN

THE career of former Magpie Rupert Betheras could be revived by his old club. The 28-year-old, who was delisted at the end of 2003, has had positive talks with Collingwood and the Kangaroos.

He began pre-season training with the Roos on Wednesday after being invited by coach Dean Laidley.

"I'm just rapt the Kangaroos have given me a chance to be training at the elite level again," Betheras said yesterday.

"I've never felt better, so it didn't make sense to walk away from the game so easily."

Betheras began training a month ago with weights and speed specialist Barry Conlan. This season he played with St Mary's in Darwin and won a premiership before also playing in Cairns.

Betheras is realistic about his chances of being drafted but clings to the hope of playing again in the black and white under coach Mick Malthouse.

"I'd love to play under Mick or Dean again," he said.

"I'm just going to do everything right and come draft day you never know . . . put it this way, I won't die wondering."

Have a read

Played in the NT this year.
Is on a surfing safari and reflecting on his grafiti and the days when he and his brothers would terrorise half of Melbourne with their band of merry paranksters - EMB. Great fella though.
