VICTORIA police are looking for a large dog - about six metres tall - was stolen from the roof of a Melbourne hardware store overnight.
Answering to the name "Rusty", the 6.1 metre inflatable dog is the advertising mascot of the Home Hardware chain of stores and had been tethered to the roof of the Swan street, Richmond, store.
Police said the dog was stolen sometime between 10 last night and 7am (AEDT).
"You could say doggone," a police spokesman said.
"Rusty is worth thousands of dollars and should not be too hard to find: after all it must be pretty hard to hide a 20 foot (6.1 metre) dog.
"Someone must know where he is."
