havn't heard to much about the young kid but apparantly have heard has big raps. Hopefully he becomes the sought of player we need- remember was drafted as a skinny 17yr old so will take time to develop and add some bulk to his frame. Should be worth the wait, i hope.

Has ability.

I wouldn't say he's quick. Can kick well and is a very good mark. Loves a goal.

Major trouble at this stage is struggling to impact in a game for extended periods. He was drafted bottom age though and before his mid-year injury, he was one of our best performed youngsters, which is encouraging.

Needs to improve quite a bit, but has something to work with for sure.

I saw him kick 5 goals 4 against Sandringham , but never witnessed a 40 and 3 game (and I only missed 1 Willi game).
Ryan showed glimpses of AFL potential , but he really needs to win more contests and focus on winning ground ball , rather than rely on gaining most of his possesions with marks from leads. At 186 cm he is not tall enough to make that a major part of his game at AFL level.
He also seems to run under the ball too much and ends up propping under the ball , with no momentum. Whether the substandard delivery to him is mainly due to this will be shown in time , but it looks a fault at the moment.
Most of his highlights occurred earlier in the season and it must be kept in mind that he was a bottom-age draftee.

Maybe it was a TAC Cup game. He kicked 3 in the Grand Final but would have been a fair way from getting 40 touches.

My biggest concern is his lack of hardness at the footy. First glimps of him was v kangas in the praccy match and he droped a mark right in front of me because he heard footsteps. Seen him a couple of times on tv since and he does not attack the footy at all. I know he is young but we have enough of these types and if he wants to stay he needs to learn to win his own footy IMO.

Sorry, but this is why you should never base an opinion on limited observation.

Ryan Cook was drafted primarily based off his aggression and mongrel - He had so much of it that it was almost considered a downside.

However, he is very bottom aged, and it's quite simply impossible for a 17-18 year old to be thrown into a league, playing against grown men, and expect him to display the same kind of aggression that he did at underage level.

I can guarantee you that the Glen Archer you see now wasn't nearly as aggro or tough when he was 18 years old.

People fall into the same trap with Danny Stanley, especially since he's got the big body, but he's even younger than Ryan Cook.

Well Said Vinnie they are just 18. Lots of time yet Danny is a very skillful player and very hard at it.

Ryan also brings with him, the ability to be a great clubman. He has a level head and has the desire to improve. He is giving it his best shot and with luck with injuries and a huge pre season, Ryan will be knocking on the door. He certainly has a special quality about him. James Clement type of attitude to life and football.
