Last year was his first year coming straight out of Frankston. He played 17 matches last year and was the MFC Best First Year Player. He is 195cm so he has the height, but he is listed as 85kg which means he will probably have to put on a lot of muscle before he can take on the best every week. Big men take longer to fully develop as we know so once he is matured, he should be a big, strong bloke.

In the pre-season he had a shoulder reconstruction and has only recently returned to Sandringham Reserves, where he has done pretty good from all reports. I rate him a better prospect than Carroll and Lamb, and hopefully he can surpass Nicholson in the future. If his development goes out all as planned, then hopefully the Ferguson-Rivers combination down back will be one of the very best for years to come. But he won't play this year. He will be getting himself ready for a crack at Round 1, 2005 I'd say.

I dispute that he won't play again this year Shev.

Came back from shoulder reco 4 weeks ago and has been in Sandy 2's best each week. Will be back at Sandringham 1's in the next week or 2 and give him a month there and we could see him back.

I rate Fergie highly and think he will be a good player for us.

I don't see it happening unless there is an injury to Nicholson or Rivers. And then he still has to compete with Broadbridge (who has played lately) and Lamb (who was named this week but won't play). I don't think Daniher will bring him back this year.

Ferg's is travelling along nicely. His lack of pre-season has meant he's still too skinny to take a key position away from Nicholson or Rivers this season. However he's a chance to secure a 3rd tall role if Wheatley or Brodbridge lose form or pick up an injury.

He won't be competing with Nicho or Rivers for a spot, he will be competing with Wheatley and Broadbridge.

I would have Wheatley ahead of him on current form but I'd have Ferguson well ahead of Broadbridge.

Brown, Nicholson, Ferguson
Bizzell, Rivers, Whelan

Wheatley on a wing, Ward on the bench & Broadbridge 1st emergency.

It could look something like this by the end of the season.

Fergs & Bizz can play at either end as well. Ferguson's a better back up ruckman than Miller & Holland too & we won't be losing a key position player by using him either.

ofcourse once jolly comes back we wont need any of them in the ruck BUT if fergy bulks up a bit he could do the defence ruckwork and let white drop back

He won't be able to bulk up in time for this year. Played reserves again today but that has as much to do with the form of the seniors as anything.

A big pre-season could really set him up for next season.
