Recommitted Ryley Sanders [OOC 2026] - name was floated for a move in 2025, stayed

Kennedy, Freijah, Treloar, Garcia, Hynes, Harmes is a pretty good backup group under the big 3. Williams, Weightman, West and Gallagher have all spent time there too.

Treloar & Libba are on limited time. Hynes is not ready. Harmes was poor most of this season when he wasn't injured or sick and has struggled to string games together for awhile now. Williams needed on the wing, Weightman will only every play short stints in the midfield like Papley does at the swans. Same for West. Way more damaging in the forward line and I don't see them playing more time in the midfield while the forward line is lacking there. Garcia will unlikely be a full-time mid.

Would you trade him to get Butters?

I know some people on our board would, I think we could get Butters without trading him so no.

If we could only choose one in a hypothetical scenario then I’d learn towards Butters.

Disagree on Garcia and Gallagher, Garcia will never be a star but he’s a solid b grade backup mid. Gallagher hasn’t quite hit that level but is young and will have more development under his belt. Williams played mid going back a few years and was very good.

Agree it leaves a bit to be desired but I’d take it if it got us the key defender we need and a future first to target Butters it could be a master stroke.

He kicked 13 goals because he was playing predominantly as a half forward, Garcia plays a stoppage midfield focused role.

They’re very different players so the comparison I admit is a bit silly but if he was the first cab off the rank if we somehow lost three of the main group (Bont, Libba, Richards, Kennedy, Freijah and Treloar) I think the difference between Sanders and Garcia is less than the difference between Busslinger and Butts.

He seems to be extremely highly rated internally. But if the Crows offered a first + Butts I really think we’d HAVE to take it. Fills a far more immediate need, even if the cupboard is pretty much left empty when it comes to developing mids

its the complete opposite for us. Losing Butts leaves us very thin in defence if we get any injury but we would have to do it in my opinion as we NEED quality mids more
