How did this thread get through?? Dont underestimate Sheeds. He'll have to make some tough decisions at years end and we'll be saying goodbye to some favourite sons....and it'll only serve to renew my respect I have in him to bite the bullet and drop off a few passengers.

Well firstly none of us here ACTUALLY know if he is performing his job well or not.
We may have our own ideas on if he is or isn't but we have no REAL idea as we don't know what goes on to be frank.

Secondly, Essendon have a culture and part of that culture is they rarely sack people mid way through a contract, if ever.

I'm sure of Sheedy wasn't performing his duties as expected, we would find out a way to resolve the issue without subjecting him to the humiliation of being sacked mid season

Good on Sheeds for sticking to his guns regarding flooding. If we have a half decent midfield, which we will have soon enough, we will start winning more games tan we losr because we will be able to beat the flood, which screws about 10 teams over.
 
after all that sheedy has given to your club, you simply do not fire him halfway through a season. you afford him the respect he deserves - he is entitled to finish his contract in a dignified way, and then not have it renewed if the club thinks that the future lies elsewhere.

anything less would just not be classy at all. it saddens me that one of the largest figures in a century of VFL/AFL would be treated this trashily by supporters of his own club.

Everyclub has morons like these. If you have read the replies to this thread you'd know we dont want him sacked mid season.

My love affair with Sheeds has ended. I backed him all the time during the leaner years but now it's all over.

I think we need a change. A fresh approach.

Should not be sacked now. He should leave at the end of the year gracefully.
 
I agree with the topic
sheedy has been a great coach for a long time but the game has gone past him. He shouldnt be sacked just told to take another role at the club.
25 year is way to long to be a coach.His time was up in 2004 but yet he got another 3 years. Dont think that i dont like sheedy being our coach i just think he aint the man that will take us another step up the ladder.
"When your good at something" your not going to be good at it for ever and im sorry but that goes for sheedy aswell. Somone whos been an assitant for a few years could come in and be the coach. Would love to see harvey come back to windy hill and coach in 2008

I GUARANTEE that HSeedy will not be sacked midseason. Changing coaches now is not the best thing for the club. Wait to the end of the season before we make these kind of decisions
 
Ridiculous comment bees. It's the final straw here, Sheedy is the man for the job, it is quite simply the playing group that need to lift their game... No use trying to go the easy cop out and blame the coach, we have shown we can play well and win games, it's just up to the playing group to remain consistent and deliver the goods. :thumbsu:

He aint the man for the job his time has come up.
why does everyone keep sticking up for him he has nearly got us two wooden spoons in the last 2 years and ****en 2006 is comming back out in us this year aswell.
he is a great coach i love the man but im sorry it would be best if he passed on the job. A new coach would refresh the players and everyone at the club.
 
Sheedy has to react quicker to things happening on the field re our players being beaten .A loose man in defence is mandatory in todays game .The players must learn to follow instructions and also react instinctively without being spoon fed .Hird turned over the ball to the opposition too easily today .Is he injured or too slow now ?
Dont forget there are good players coming back soon .

No where have i ever said we should be keeping Sheedy past this year. In fact i have always been leaning towrads going for a new coach next year.
There is no need to sack him now.Show him the respect he has earnt. Sacking him now wont change the fact we are not a good side. We just let him finish this year and replace him.
I f you actually pulled your head out of your arse for 5 seconds and read some of the posts from people around here you might actually learn something turbo ;)

Sheeds is our champion whos won us four flags in 25 years, look at all the other coaches, none of them have that record, look at sti.kilda and the bulldogs, 1 premiership each.

We don't accept mediocrity at Windy Hill but he has to be given a go.

Sheeds has rebuilt our team like no other coach, hes made winderlich into something, revived jobe watson and been our main man at essendon. You just watch.... a monfries-led young brigade will march over all competitors soon. Let's be patient bombers....

I have defended Sheedy for years and still think he is a great coach but for the first time I am starting to have some geniune concerns. I posted the below in another thread, but think it can relate to this thread as well.

My main issue is the fact is Kevin Sheedy in too proud to flood as he believes it is part of his responsibilty to the game for his team to play atrractive and entertaining footy.(his comment we box, don't wrestle and basketball crap comments also support this)

Key forwards always kick goals against Essendon. Just have a look at Essendon and Carlton games lately they are bottom teams but have been entertaining because 2 stubborn and old fashion coaches refuse to flood, hence Fevola and Lucas or Lloyd kicking 4 plus. If you play like this the key forward will always win with the amount of space given and the new rules.

Essendon do not flood anywhere near enough to what is needed in this day and age.I think most would agree with him footy is a much better spectacle when teams don't flood, but if he does'nt swallow his pride soon there will be a lot more losses and key forwards kicking bags of goals and it wont be at the fault of his defenders.

If the AFL don't see flooding as an issue and are not prepared to change a rule to prevent it then Sheedy needs to stop being stubborn and put coaching to win first.

Oherwise let this be his last year at coaching of an amazing career then go and take that job at the AFL Andrew D has waiting for him.Then the responsibilty of the game is his duty and he the can implement a new rule then.

In the mean time he needs to coach to win at all costs, no matter if it is attractive or not. Most supporters will take an unattractive win over an attractive win.
