I have always been a big supporter of Sheedy and certainly didn't want him sacked.

It's all just speculation as Essendon would NEVER sack him mid contract.

BUT, i will admit after watching our pre season i was starting to waver and was thinking about the possibilities of Essendon without Sheeds.

Certainly feeling a lot better about the season after round 1 but i think this week will tell us a lot about our season ahead.

I thought he was crazy last year and still think he is crazy but I never wanted him sacked
 
still want sheeds sacked. let's not get ahead of ourselves, we've only one one game. the same thing happened last year...went to sydney to play the reigning premiers in round 1 - won that...then lost the next 16!

sheedy has been great for the club, and the game, but his time's up IMO.

i think we played sydney in melb and unless lloyd gets injured, hird can hardly play, mal micheal doesnt play, ryder goes backwards like all our kids i think theres reason to be ALOT more exited than last year

What was it like in the hole you just came out of ? Sheedy has 21 games to get it right. My worry is signing another extension on his contact, on the strength of some early season success; which, is long overdue.

There is absolutely no need to extend Sheedy's contract until the year is over.

stander is right, we still have a long season ahead but i doubt the club or Sheeds are even thinking about contracts.

Lets hope the only thing on their mind is winning

what lloydy has said in the media this week has been great. they are switched on this year
 
Given too greater contribution to be sacked. Deserves to leave on his own terms as long as he is still at his peak.

I would expect a new two year deal at the end of the year if we show improvement.

I never wanted him sacked. Actually wrote him a letter last year during the tough times giving him my full support. Fair weathered supporters are at every club and I think we have less than a lot of others. I still feel sick at the people who booed Paul Salmon off the field.

I remember being at training the last training before the 2000 grand final and got a chill when the crowd at training roared when Sheeds walked onto the track. At that point you would never have thought we would even be discussing him being sacked.

Keep up the support. Go Sheeds.

Sheedy is back on the winners list and will stay another 3 years. He can sense another era unfolding and it get's the old coot excited.

Playing Jetta was a risk imo,but as usual, KS knows whats best and it all worked out pretty nice. Sheeds is a master:)

He loved putting in Paddy,Slattery,Jetta and Davey for rd 1. He knows what he is doing:thumbsu:

One round in and all of a sudden the pro camp are right and the rest are wrong. For ****s sake.

I love a lot of what Kevin Sheedy brings to the table as a senior Coach, but he needs a big year not just a game to earn more time as Essendon Coach. It won't neccessarily be about wins either, but the style of game we play, and how the team is selected. At least imho.

Round 1 was an enjoyable start though.

Who exactly would have done a better job last year?

I don't believe Sheedy has lost anything and should still be the coach, probably give him another 2 years if we start to climb this year!
 
I think it's clear.

Bottom 4 he's gone
Top 8 he's probably safe

Most likely though is 9-12 and then there's a tough decision to make.

I predict we need to win 9 games for Sheedy to get a new contract.
 
Im surprised this thread saw the light of day again. Its currently not an issue and it doesnt really add to our new season.
