i hav had it with commentators and supporters that continue to harp on about st kilda's talented youth i agree they hav a good future but F__ what do u expect when u finish last every year
and get the first and second picks always. Very easy to recruit well

congratulations to st kilda for having a great eye in recruiting
showing the other 15 afl clubs how easy it is to recruit

Mate if you want to look for high dratt picks over the years - then go to Freo

St.kilda has only had one #1 pick in the last five years. Last years was #3 yet it was not our fualt that Carlton (the wooden spooners) overpaid their players ie. cheated

We simply did not trade our picks and if all clubs had such good recruiters such as ours they would have selected Lenny Hayes #11 and Dal Santo #13 before us!

Mate, they do have a great eye for talent. Just because you get a high draft pick, it doesnt mean a great young player comes to you on a platter. It takes alot of time, preparation and background checking to pick the right players, and the recruiting staff at St. Kilda have done a great job. I think they will be right up there within the next few years.

Well done Moron

John Hutton, Drew Banfeild, Clive Waterhouse, Travis Johnstone, Des Headland and Josh Fraser have been great for being the number one pick. (all took about 4 yrs to become quality players)

Its just coincidence that St.kilda gets to pick the very best players at number one like Riewoldt and Goddard.

Hardly comparable to todays draft.

Back then clubs recruiting strategies were amateur, at best.

The top 5 pick themselves these days. A top 5 pick is like shooting fish in a barrel.

Yes Loui, yet another good reply and once again u base ur thoughts on nothing.

Ur contribution is appriciated because it is better to be thought a fool then to open ur mouth and remove all doubt...to late for u though!!!!

Get a clue.

Drew Banfield debut in 1993, slotted pretty much flawlessly into our premiership winning midfield of 1994 (we hardly missed Dwayne Lamb, the man he replaced, and that's saying something), and in 1996, his 4th year on the list, won the club's B&F - he's since gone on to play 200+ games and be a consistant performer for many years.

Get your facts right.

Your argument that St Kilda have had no real advantage of having high picks and their potential success with the young group they have is simply based on smart drafting is a weak one.
You can't compare it to the draft of old, things have changed too much since then. Pretty much, it's only really the last 3-4 drafts that have been accurate.
Having high draft picks is a MAJOR advantage, and nobody said that the likes of Fremantle haven't benefited from it aswell, but to say St Kilda hasn't is just plain stupid.

im not saying you dont advantage from high fraft picks, of course you do, what were saying is that a 1st round draft pick doesnt always benefit the playing team. it still takes some scouting, time, preparation to know and make the right decisions, and this ******** louis obviously doesnt have the slightest clue of how the system works.

It is annoying to hear idiots say, urve had so many draft picks when research shows that Freo has had twice as many as with Collingwood over the last few years. They traded theirs and we simply stuck with ours.

examples

Collingwood - 1998 #3 (to Sydney), 1999 #1 (fraser) #3 (to richmond, 2000 #3 (didak)

Fremantle - 1998 #2 (longmuir), 1999 # 2, #4 #5 (for Hasleby, Pavlich and Brown), 2000 #6, 2001, #1 (for croad), #4 (polak)

St.kilda - 1998 #11 (hayes), 1999 #9 (beetham), 2000 #1 #2 (riewoldt and Kossie), 2001 #2 #5 (balland Clark), 2002, #3

as you can see that 1998 nd 1999 are not high picks at all - St.kilda just seems to have alot of concessions because we stuck with our draft picks

Exactly where did i say that St.kilda has not benefitted. You are simply making stuff up. My argument is it is naive to simply say that St.kilda gets all the high draft picks.

but F__ what do u expect when u finish last every year

This was the Agument JUJU, so stick so F___ u right in the ear!!
