Ok , so it’s the start of 2024’s season , all players are fit and ready to go . For the sake of this thread we have exactly the same squad as we do now . So who do you pick to be in the team for round one .
Who are you going to pick for the forward line for example ? King , Hammer , Membrey, Pou , Butler , Higgins , Gresham , Sharman , Moose , Marshall , Owens or someone else .
Pick the side you would like to see .
Remember every player in the squad is fit and ready to play .

Just about even on field between Grundy and Marshall but after the Dee's pay us to take on Grundy's salary and we get a first rounder for Marshall I think we can live with it.

Grundy is no better. He's higher profile because he was at Collingwood. Similar types, both good as extra mids more than quality rucks.

I would tick off all players with long term contracts will be with us next year
Marshall , Wilkie , Steele , Sinclair , King , Crouch , Higgins , Hill and add on the kids that just resigned Owens , Windhager , MWM and hopefully Phillipou.

All the rest could easily be offered up in trades - Hill would not be traded due to his contract - 900k a year for the next 2 years.

I really feel Clark , Gresham could well be gone and players like Jones , McKenzie , Campbell , Bytel will be moved on.
Membery is another that could be used as trade bait - knowing we have young guys all ready doing his role.

I reckon we hold onto Bytel- If he could just get a clear run at it, he gives me Brodie-Setterfield vibes. Won't get anything for him either.

There are always at least two changes to a side every year...I reckon 2...Frdp mid Flanders mid and potentially Hotton mid.
Hayes and Coff are effectively now recruits.

The fact Ross straight in and Clarke/Brynes out tells me RTB rates Ross ahead of them.

Same with Membrey and Camaniti.

Think Doogs stays and Gresh goes.

It will be interested to see what our list looks like next year. If you believe the pundits it looks like Gresham, Clark and Howard could be exiting the club at seasons end. If we trade out Howard hopefully we have a ready made player to come in and play the role? So depending on who we bring in will dictate who what we expect our best 22 to look like.

So for me its more about our current list improving their games over the preseason.

Wilkie to be named as captain in the off season.
Stocker looks to be playing heavier than what he was at the start of the year. He needs to drop around 5kgs in bulk.
Steele hopefully the club realise they did him a disservice in getting him to drop weight/muscle. He needs to get back to his past weight.
Coffield to return to the AFL side and regain his form.
Sinclair to move to a full time midfielder.
McKenzie & Jones if still at the club do a full preseason and have an injury free year.
Younger players to continue their development and put on some size.

2024 team minus Howard would be an excellent start. Cordy while somewhat limited in ability doesn't clanger it up unlike Howard and the team looks so much better accordingly.
