It was revealed on the AFL website today that both Brisbane and St.Kilda are unable to participate in the pre season draft. See below...
"Reigning premiers Brisbane and St Kilda will go into the 2004 AFL season with the bare minimum number of players on their list after the AFL ruled on Friday they could not participate in next Tuesday’s pre-season draft.
As a result both clubs will have only 37 players on their list in 2004 after the AFL announced that neither club had room in its salary cap for next season to draft a player next Tuesday.
Based on whether their veterans were listed either inside or outside their primary list, the Lions were entitled to only one selection anyway on Tuesday but the Saints could have had up to three selections, had they had room in their salary cap."
That is fine for Brisbane (the greatest side in history), yet surely St.Kilda are in more sh*t than the early settlers when our young players start demanding more money. It can only get worse!
The hierachy down there are doing some great things, yet signing Black, Gehrig, Milne (for 3 years - please!!!!!), and to a lesser extent Hamill (the only one nearly worth his salary) combined with others, leaves me very concerned about how we can afford to keep this group together. Wait until Ball, Goddard, Dal Santo and Koschitzke demand real money
Thoughts???
