Just reading an article on Wirrpunda, it has been suggested that he's been asked to take a pay cut.

With half of Jako's salary gone to the vet's list, McIntosh retiring along with Matera and Wilson delisted. We would have plenty of surplus to sign up a star player and yet we ask a player who hasn't re-signed yet to take a pay cut?

Are we having probs with the cap or are we after a big fish come trading time?

I'm guessing Wirrpunda is on a very big salary because in the Judge years (when he last signed a contract) he was one of the rare few quality players on our list. Now that the quality has improved, and he is no longer so much better than the rest of the list, the club have rightfully asked him to take a pay cut. But what gun 24yr old player on the verge of hitting his peak, wants to take a paycut? Probably explains why negotiations have taken so long.

And CJ3, add Sierakowski's salary to your list. He would of been on a nice amount too after being traded to us.
