Could someone tell me if companies include super in their salaries or the super in on top of the salary?

Thanks

Depends on the role and offer.
Permanent roles have a superannuation component that the employer must pay to the employees nominated fund.
you need to look at the letter of offer.

casual/contract roles usually quote an hourly or daily rate which has the Super component included.

Say someone is on a salary of $45k or $52k (just examples) is it most likely that the super is then added on top of the salary or do most companies include the super in the salary package?
What does your company you work for do?

It should be made clear by the company...45 + super.

Definitely ask. If they use the word package, then I'd be wary that it includes super and car allowance or whatever. Just ask anyway.

Take the time to go through your contract to clarify your entitlements like phone allowance. Make changes where appropriate and make sure everything is as clear as crystal. It's your only fall back in the event of any dispute.

If your changes are reasonable, then most companies will not want to see you employ George Costanza's only negotiation tactic "the walkout". Not in this economic climate.

Spot on FIGJAM.

In a perfect world you should receive a letter of offer from your "new" employer. The letter of offer should include an expected/agreed date of commencement, annual salary, superannuation contribution rate (plus option/forms to have super paid into your nominated super fund as part of Super Choice, what award/band you will be classed as being employed under (if you are to be employed under a specific state or national award) .

If you are talking Managerial/Executive positions the letter should be setout differently and should detail a TRP (Total Remuneration Package) or TCC (Total Cash Component).

A TRP is generally Salary, plus Car Allowance/Novated Lease, plus Superannuation, whilst a TCC is Salary, plus Car.

Remember also that by electing to receive a Car Allowance/Novated Lease, Superannuation will only be paid on the Salary, not Salary and Car.

I hope this all makes sence.

I got a letter like that. Doesn't everybody.

My company (which I think is the same as your current company going by previous posts) offers a package as Total Fixed Income, which includes Super. This is Head Office, so not sure if its at all levels of the business.

It used to be Salary + Super but it was changed about 18 months ago. Senior Management was always on a TFC but then they changed it so that all office based team members are the same.

You need to ask the question. I just appointed a couple of people in the last week and did not mention that the salary included super. Number one, I'm not required to mention it, and number two I assume they already know since they were internal. If I was hiring externally I'd mention it so its clear, but some may not.

At the end of the interview they asked me what salary im after. I told them. They didnt mention the word package so i think im fine. Thanks for the help.

Not necessarily, when I have interviewed or been interviewed that question is asked, and the word package is not mentioned.
