I really don't get why Rugg is pursuing this.

'Rugg case against Ryan returns to federal court

Sally Rugg’s case against MP Monique Ryan and the commonwealth has returned to the federal court. Rugg is seeking an injunction to keep her job, pending a final hearing.

Rugg’s counsel, Angel Aleksov, told the court on Friday that Rugg was “pushed or jostled” into resigning on 23 December.

Aleksov said that Rugg’s letter of resignation “did not” terminate her employment, because Ryan “did not accept its immediate effect”, but purported to give it effect on 31 January.

He said:

We say that combination of those circumstances is that termination of employment didn’t occur on 23 December when the letter was furnished. It only occurred when given effect to, which we say was a constructive dismissal, on 31 January. That date was extended by undertakings to 5pm today.

So, Rugg’s counsel is arguing that she is still employed, in order to support getting an injunction to keep her in the job.' Guardian

Sally Rugg’s counsel, Angel Aleksov, has revealed that one of the reasons that Monique Ryan lost confidence in her chief of staff was because Rugg travelled on an aeroplane with covid.

Aleksov said that Rugg received a “formal warning about travel with covid” and Rugg’s affidavit explained that the reason was that it was “on doctor’s advice”.

Justice Debra Mortimer said this is “going into submissions about why Ms Rugg, when she had covid, travelled on an aeroplane”.

monique is a treasure and a wonderful addition to the parliament. this will open a pandora's box as the hours the personal staff of members of parliament are required to work can be long and arduous.
I would sack Rugg if she went on a flight with covid.

Doesn't seem the wrecker type, she's lived a pretty positive life until recently. Maybe she's not cut out for Canberra life, or maybe Monique is not a nice person to work for.
A bit unnecessay to gossip about Ryan saying she wanted to be PM one day. Especially when Murdoch will use that to undermine her.
Rugg wasn't suited to the job and should have resigned instead of this circus and trying to keep a job she doesn't want.
Climate action is more important than Rugg's petty greviences.

She should never have travelled on a plane, whilst, covid positive.
If, she was a clinician and someone had found out, not only your job, but your registration would be gone, never to return.

There are Public Health directives for a reason, being a silly pratt, doesnt cut the mustard.

Not really sure why either let it get this far.

There's a lot to say about Sally Rugg, but this is an insanely deluded thing for an independent MP to say.

Well clearly she doesn't intend on being an Independent forever. I mean, that's kind of obvious

Why would Rugg tell bitchy secrets and undermine the Teal movement?
She's a wrecker out for personal gain imo.

You get that the teal movement is tree tories yeah?

Your position on this is anti worker

Rugg's base in what 130k roughly and the payment for "reasonable overtime" is another 30k roughly

If you do the math on that, do a base 40 hour week, and look at that 30k

on a 1:1 hourly rate, no penalties or loading you get an extra 8 hours a week over the year, if you allow say 50% loading it works out to just under 6 hours a week

the court case has been about regular 70 hour weeks with large amounts of weekend time

we're talking about messages at 8:40am on a Sunday about a 9am meeting on that same day

we're talking about a situation where weekend work was a given

we're talking about wage theft here in reality

if you're paying someone for a 48 hour week and expecting a 70 hour week then you're short changing them 22 hours every week

which over a year is 1144 hours, which at the rate paid works out to roughly $72,000 in wages stolen based on Ryans definition of "reasonable"

Climate action is more important than undermining a democratic voice.

Like I said, anti worker.
It's up to Labor to provide more staff. It's not worth blowing up Monique Ryan in this case. Other people would be happy to work these conditions if it helps save the planet.
It's like saying shutting coal mines is anti-worker. The unions hide behind this rubbish.

Holy s**t you actually think she's going to save the planet lol

And yeah if you're saying she should just shut up and be exploited to save the planet then you're a tree tory as well Aristotle Pickett
Climate is policy number one. If you want the worker protected , it's up to Labor, they took away staff, it's Labor's fault.
Labor has done nothing to raise wages. It's Labor's fault not Ryan's.
Labor are a pissweak joke on the wealth gap, wages, climate, housing. A complete happy- to- be-wedged weak joke.

The Teals have excellent climate policy , why is she undermining them for a personal vedetta?
Why should she have to put up with being exploited?

Labor aren't expecting Rugg to work 70 hours a week and attend meetings on a Sunday morning with 20 minutes notice.

That's Ryan treating her like that

What tory policies do the Teals have exactly?
The teals don't exist, it's a bunch of independent MPs with their own platforms

Keep getting sucked in by the marketing though.

Multiple "teals" were against the super cap

The Labor unions are happy to destroy the planet and to sell out to multi-nationals like Santos and Adani.
This isn't about Labor as much as you want to make it.

This is about you shitting on someone standing up for their rights because you like their boss because a billionaire told you they'd fix the climate problem
