Recommitted Sam Berry [OOC 2026] - name was floated for a move in 2025, stayed

He’s well entrenched currently, but I’d say he’s still behind Dawson, Rankine, Soligo and Peatling in the midfield pecking order. He would also know that the long term plan for Curtin is likely to bring him in to the midfield rotation at some point.

If I was Berry, and a club like West Coast came knocking with a big contract and essentially guaranteed opportunities I would be seriously considering it.

If it’s this year while he’s under contract I’d say we’d be pushing for a late 1st/early 2nd. If he asks out next year I’d probably anticipate some kind of pick swap where we end up with a pick in the 20s as the main part of it.
Thanks for the feedback mate...Our thoughts seem to align around value.
If we came knocking with the Hawks fist (14?) and 6yrs @900000k (indexed). It may work for all.

I really rate him and think he'd thrive with Harley in the middle.

We (WCE) need so many things, but it starts here.

It’s all hypothetical obviously, I think that trade is more than fair value, but I don’t think it would make sense for us to do it while he’s under contract. Given we are hopefully going to be contending in 2026, and this is a compromised draft, would make sense to hold him to his contract.

You would also think that long term Draper will come in.

I actually think that Shoenberg would be a good get for WC. He can play at AFL level, has been in ripping form in SANFL, would come cheap, and his age profile is perfect.

Yep, forgot to mention Draper.

I’m not sure Schoenberg would be a great fit. West Coast need a guy who can win his own footy, which isn’t a huge strength of Harry’s.

Berry is the one I'm fangirling over, not Hazza.

Be kind, you got some many good midfielders and we all know Berry deserves a crack as a long term starting mid.
Besides, he misses Chesser.

From Eagles perspective as a trade id do something like pick 2 and 32 to Essendon for pick 5 and 6 and then say pick 6 for Berry and 17

Adelaide would have a incentive to move Berry on to grab one of the Adelaide born KPPS in the top 10
Have you watched Berry play very solid role player ?

800k and pick 6 down to 17 is ridiculous overs

No wonder you guys traded pick 2 for 8 and 12 and pick 3 last year lol.

I think his ceiling is much higher than solid role player. If played in his preferred position with positional continuity.

Hawks first I think is about right.
Perceived overs but we're paying for potential.

He's shown he can play to a mutch higher level than Owies .

Jesus Christ guys, just go to ****ing draft haha. Every Adelaide poster on their board will pay for his flights West in first class for this

I don't think he's worth a first rounder personally.
If Adelaide get an A grade mid in trade this offseason I'm not convinced Berry gets a game next year.

His highest average for disposals for a year was just over 17

He was drafted at pick 28 hasn't solidified a role so that won't have increased

Matt Clark has done a number on them, buncha crack addicts looking for their next fix of paying absurd prices for role players.

He's playing as a HFF with short mid rotations (from what I've seen. Crows fans to confirm)

He's being held out of the midfield primarily to to the depth of talent and look for dynamic rotations.

You cannot look at averages alone to base judgment

He has been there for 5 years now and 2022 had a high CBA role and was pushed out as soon as they had any decent player in,

Again he is a good role player at best not a bad thing but you don't give up first rounders and 800k salary for depth players

No doubt Berry has improved as he back to being clean below his knee unlike mid last year and has shown a burst of speed, also has the ability to fly for a mark but he needs to continue this development next year to even be consider a late 1st rounder.
