Its handy though..if you catch a knee on a nail just get the missus to darn it up.I think they use polyester for the artificial ligaments these days. No wonder they tear I've torn my polyester shirts heaps of times.
Silly scientists.
Seriously though, the pressure we put the knees under during sport is ridiculous.
Troy Menzel did his knee when he was about 16, he had LARS and as far as I know he hasnt done his knee again.Interested to know... didn't our Menzel have it? wonder how it's holding up? What about Liberatore Senior he did it as well as a Sydney player years ago. I relise the op only holds on for a number of years but if it can be effective for Doc's prime???

Andy McKay 2017 docharty injury report-
1-2 years
I understand its a ***** of a thing thats happened. But without meaning to be insensitive to Doc, he is not our best player. The recruiting team's hard work over the past few years is close to alleviating his loss. His leadership will still be present. We will be a much better team in 2019 with or without Doc. Important thing is that he just focuses on his recovery. CFC will be fine.
Not a doctor, but wonder why when doing a tendon ACL reco they don't also investigate doing a hybrid by doing a LARS as well (if possible). Kind of how you get a plate attached to a bone to strengthen it as it heals and to support it for a period of time until everything is 100%.
All literature I can find says LARS really good for those less active (over 50s) with no issues post 5 years for majority of cases (as over 50 not a pro sportsmen so less likely).
But we've had Malceski, Rodan, Menzel do LARS with no complications. I think surgeons are weary about using LARS because if it ruptures it makes it harder to fix the damage over a tradtional tendon graft.
https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/foot...lorian-lejeune-recovery-training-acl-rupture/Has anyone heard about Florian Lejuene? He's a Premier League footballer who injured his ACL and returned to action after just four months. Would love to get Doc over to see his surgeon.

Yes, they mention the synthetic material in one of these articles.
Pity the kangaroo option isn't ready yet:

Warragul is the backwards time travel sorted....![]()
The sense of doom and woe is the same because the injury is the same. The sense of pessimism is greater because the idea of a fresh start is sullied by the familiarity of the recent past before it has had a chance to begin. New captains, new era and the club still bedevilled by the same malady as the wooden-spoon season just gone.
It is understandable but wrong. This time it's slightly different.
Carlton are better placed than 12 months ago. Their good young players are more game ready, they have brought in more and better players and their other injured players of this season - save for Docherty - should be ready again round one.
Poor Roger. Recently passed so not an option.Yep,
No tendon of this campaigner is snapping anytime soon!!
