If you mean aimless tap then sure ROB is the best aimless tap ruck in the league.
Pretty sure rob topped the league for HTA, total hit outs and was up there for HTA%. I get he’s awful around the ground and can’t mark the ball but you’ve got 3 awesome key forwards which diminishes the importance of this.

Bringing in Draper for 800k+ would be genuinely awful. Seems obvious bombers are letting him go because he’s average and can sniff an inflated compo

You’re 1/3.

His tank is not up to par, correct.
He’s an above average ruckman however when he’s in there, which makes probably maxes out at about 70% of a game.

His forward craft has come a mile from not really a factor to now you need to allocate a decent defender to him. At Adelaide, he’d genuinely be about 70% ruck, 10% forward, 20% bench.
He’d be an enormous upgrade on current version of ROB.
We don't need another tall forward and Draper isn't worth a band 1 even for ROB.

Neither of which are a point I made.

Draper would be coming in to be an upgrade as #1 ruck.
And never mentioned contract wise or salary. I think he’d be more likely to generate band 2, end of first round compensation. Which would be interesting.

Regardless, all likely a mundane talking point. Feels very likely he stays.

He's not worth band 1.

I'll admit as a ruck, he has age in his side. I just don't think he has the tools to be top liner.

I don’t rate him as a ruck. I like him more as a striker type forward who can pinch hit as a ruck.

He’s got his flaws as a forward but if he can be a big body to negate the tallest KPDs and get 2 snags a game just by proximity that’s a top 10 Coleman finish based on last seasons tally’s.

There’s a pretty strong case for that player to be band 1.

I think a few clubs (Pies/North/Dees) make him a decent offer he’d make all
Those sides better

There is no chance in hell anyone is offering him 5-6 years at 900k+

If there’s no other way to get him and no better way to spend the money then why not. Draper with a 50 goal season under the new cap is worth 800k so it’s not a massive overpay especially if you could frontload say 500k of that

Do you really think the 2 goals per game is going to continue?
2024 = 0.7 goals/game
2023 = 0.7
2022 = 0.5
2021 = 0.2
His highest goal tally in a year was 12 in 2022 and all of the sudden he's going to jump to 50?

The change has coincided with a positional change.

Over that period it’s mostly been Draper as the main ruck with Peter Wright as the chopout.

This season Nick Bryan is the main Ruck and Drapers mostly playing as a deep FF.

50 goals a season LMFAO can I have what you're smoking,

He has kicked 42 goals in his entire career including his 6 from this year

I understand that you're talking about extrapolating out his season so far into fifty goes, but the guy hasn't kicked fifty goals in his entire career combined. He's kicked 42 career goals and never more than 12 a season.

It is a long way to go before a side will lock him in for 50 a year.

I honestly don't think they can afford lose Draper anyway.
If he ends up leaving who is the Bombers ruck, Goldstein likely to retire end of this year.
The guy currently number 1, Nick Bryan.

For sure.

Drapers basically starting at FF this year which is a positional change for him. It’s not really useful to compare the goal numbers of a player playing Ruck vs a player primarily playing FF. There’s just less opportunities for rucks.

Drapers goals are very uncontested and more a result of proximity to goal more then anything else. I’d say the reasonable position is to look at him as a 4th option negating forward who can take the best defender, crash a pack, bring the ball to ground, get a snag or two a game and play 30% ruck

That’s overall a pretty average player but when you add positional scarcity and a rising cap it pushes the money up somewhat higher then you think it should be

After ROB performance last night, Adelaide added another 200k and extended the contract a extra two years.

Band 1 thank you very much.

Apparently we've had a 2 year extension on the table for a few weeks. His manager probably forged his signature on it half way through Thursday night.
