Injury Sam Fisher

Very good question. I've been wondering this since I was told about how bad it was a few weeks ago. I guess it's only a matter of time before we pull the pin on his season and possibly for 2 or 3 others as well. I really don't like the idea of anyone playing with significant or debilitating injuries. It could be a long second half of the season!

Agreed. I have known about his foot all year. Not like Damo's news is ground breaking.
Fish genuinely thought we were looking good for finals this year and so he was happy to play with shots. Recently he realised that we weren't and it was also getting too painful. Probably a bit of mind over matter and the mind gave up.
Anyway -- he wants to play this weekend with the 250 boys and he is willing to go through the pain. However he is no certainty to play. We will know when the teams start warming up.

Triple M reckon Fisher is going to go in for Season ending foot surgery soon and is done for the year. Good thing i guess. Hope it goes well and we have him for next year.

Get Curren Up NOW! Staley/Shenton as the other mid season elevation so we can decide to keep or delist them

Not a good time for Head to play like a Colac feral then.

Send him in for surgery and upgrade another rookie. Hopefully Curren finally gets a crack!
Tom Curren will never play for the St Kilda Football Club in the season proper. Ross - sorry, Scott - has already picked his favourites, and it's abundantly clear that he is not one of them. I expect him to go to another club and do a Mark Hutchings, and make fools of us all.

Sounds like we're doing what Collingwood did in 2005... Any players under a long-term injury question mark should be put out to pasture for the rest of the year to ensure full-preseasons, young players getting AFL level experience & better draft picks.

Should also leave:
Gilbert
Maister
Markworth... til 2014.

No need to rush these blokes back. There is nothing to play for this year other than injecting games experience into some kids & seeing who can sink or swim

On SEN,
Fisher going in for season ending surgery on his toe.

That's a bummer but hopefully the surgery gets him back to 100% next season, he hasn't been his normal self this season so obviously injuries were hampering him.

Mmm Hutchings was a young rookie, never impressed and was let go after just one year.

Curren has been ripping it up in the VFL for the best part of 2 seasons now. As well as having a great attitude and decent leadership.

I don't think the Hutchings decisions makes us look like fools - but what's happening with Curren right now, certainly does have the potential to.

I agree. Hutchings was clearly not up to it and we had several like him so a fair call. I saw him out on it also.....

Curren ticks every box except decision making and height. Perhaps that is enough to keep him out. Although I seem to recall that the worst decision maker in our team for many years was Sean Dempster. How things change....

Given that Curren is on the Rookie list and Ledger isn't, I'd kind of expect Ledger to get a go first.
Some communication from the club regarding these guys wouldn't go astray.

Ledger is good steak knives trade bait. His agent runs the line about it being a personality clash with the coach etcc... Good form in VFL but the coach was an a@#ehole etc. We can't have both on our list IMO with Jack Steven ahead of them and a call for big midfielders.

If true it would be a good idea to advertise our steak knives by getting them out there.

i agree. send him back to freo or west coast.

west coast could do with another in and under mid to help priddis. freo would do with one for depth

Watters has already been on record saying that a couple of guys would be handed debuts before the end of the season, (IMO meaning second half of the year).....so Curren could still get a game this season....

Some communication fro the club as to why players aren't being picked? Are you serious? Do you really think the club is going to let all supporters in on why they are or aren't picking players? Since when is the club a democracy?

So do we promote another Rookie when Fish goes onto the LTI list? A backman like Staley or Curren? Or can we promote several more with Markworth and Gilbert?

We can promote a rookie through the mid year nomination thing through the AFL and if Fish has surgery and goes onto the Long term injury list.

So can possibly promote two rookies.

Certainly needs a run this year so list mgt decisions can be made.....(not saying he should go - more for other players)...

Ferg already promoted so just 1 more (2 in total) or another 2 (3 in total)?

Can promote another 2.

Ferguson > Markworth
Curren > Nominated Rookie
Staley > Fisher (If he has surgery)

If that clears it up.
Reckon Minchy will get promoted before Staley does, so long as he can get even remotely fit.

The fitness thing will be the key. Think he has already penned himself in for another year on rookie list. Staley and Shenton both have to prove something or may both be delisted.

Reckon we might hold onto one upgrade until later in season for one of the above.

According to VFL watchers Staley is coming along nicely.
