Hunt showed something in the VFL in the last 5-6 games. Well I thought so anyway.

Jim Boy said:I don't think we can pay Spencer out, while I'm far from certain, if we delist him then next year's salary will be added to this year's salary cap. As we are at 100% already, then that we would tip us over and the penalty could be severe for a premeditated breach, stripping us of a first pick for example.
The point I'm making is that if we delist him, then next year's salary for MS will be added to this year's salary cap because it is still 2006. We have already reached 100% for this year and if we terminate MS's contract with a year left to run, then the amount owing, even if only $100, will go onto this year's Salary Cap, pushing us over the 100% mark. The retirements of Riccardi and Kingsley are irrelevant as that does not affect the Salary Cap this year.Turbocat said:Jim surely a guy who has played as little MS cant be on a huge contract. The 100% changes from year to year , Riccardi and Kingsley going would change it as would new contracts. With a new batch of first year kids this year I'd be suprised if we could afford to pay his contract out.

Turbocat said:I think you will find any pay outs will go into next years cap. As with Voss in Brisbane , even when he is not on their list in 07 the payout figure goes into the 07 cap.
It could be that way to prevent clubs from coming to arrangements with highly paid players to effectively spread out their payments to the year beyond their life as a footballer. Eg we could have come to an arrangement with Riccardi this year for a two year contract at half rate. At the end of the first year we delist him and defer half the payment to the next year.Seb said:That was my understanding as well.
Seems ludicrous to suggest delisting him would be part of the 2006 salaries.
Jim Boy said:Voss isn't really relevant as he willingly retired and presumably is happy to forego next year's salary. MS, if he goes, is getting pushed.

From what I understand Voss will be on the 07 list for this reason, otherwise his payout of 900,000 would be added on to this years cap pushing the Lions over.Turbocat said:I think you will find any pay outs will go into next years cap.
