Going by fly's comments it seems that barring an unexpected injury, his debut will have to wait .

Even then, I am not sure they would give him the debut after the bye especially if he does end up missing Monday's game , as that will be 2 weeks without competitive footy. Can't imagine that being good preparation for a player getting ready to play his first senior football.

Honestly his first game might not until the Richmond game.

I loved how Malthouse used to debut young players in big games eg T Cloke and others on Anzac Day
Reckon he debuted 3 in one game against Richmond and we caused an upset. Toovey Cox and Brad Dick?
Think this is the perfect game to debut Swadling
Yes, great memory!:- https://afltables.com/afl/seas/2007sr.html#deb

Three West Aussies even! Collingwood won the game by 25 points. It was a Rd. 3 clash, and the Pies second win of the season, while Richmond remained winless (and finished last that year), so calling it an upset is rather debatable!

I wanted Swadling in (at least a week ago), and just don't understand why he's being made to wait. His last VFL game was one of his quieter ones, and he could have been elevated before that.

I agree. The Pies tend to be be too conservative imo. I know Fly talks about setting players up for success but there comes a point when it’s the ideal time to pull the trigger. And it’s not like the team is flying and everyone is performing well. And there’s been injuries too so there’s been plenty of opportunities to bring him in. We don’t want to be in a situation where a bunch of experienced players all retire at once and the next generation have barely played

there's something about this kid ...he demands the football..I remember when heath shaw first played he demanded the football..lets hope

I have to admit that I was pretty happy that the Pies grabbed Swads in the draft. I liked the idea of a very high possession midfielder because you just know they are ball magnets and natural footballers who know where to be. And his highlights reel showed he had decent skills and he seemed to like to take the game on. And he’s now done it in the VFL, the second strongest league in the country with a 4 possession game a couple of weeks ago
