AM I misguided in asking a fairly obvious question from today's game: why didn't Jude Bolton get a free kick for copping that bloke's knee in his head going back into a contest?

It seemed the Port bloke came a moment late, and his knee hit Bolton's head when the player was clearly too late to be any chance of marking it.

Wouldn't that constitute at least a hint of a breach of the AFL policy of no head contact?

I know it's been six months since I last watched regular footy but it seemed, from memory, every bloke in Bolton's situation used to get the free kick.

Anyway, it's late, we got caned today, I'm bored and annoyed, so this is what happens ...

i thought the same thing!!!!! any 1 else and it would of been a free kick!!!

Eh, maybe a kick in it. It looked a reasonable contest, possibly a fraction late.

I'm shocked he got up straight away though. It looked to be a massive blow, right in the back of the head. It would have killed a lesser man!

Sydney does not get head high frees.

You know that Mr Bateman.

Does not look like anything will change.
Edited for Accuracy.
:)

I would think it would bring back Jude in 05 Grandfinal?

That was the one I was thinking of, but it felt like the whole midfield had a stint in it one time or another during the 05 Finals Series.

It would have been regarded "fractionally late" if it were a normal collision. But in this "fractionally late" hit, the bloke's knee connected with Bolton's head, which to me suggests that it was a tad reckless as well as more than "fractionally late" for the knee to be that high after Bolton knocked the ball.

The very reason I love the way Jude Bolton goes about it. I was flabbergasted when I heard Roos offered this bloke up for trade a few years ago. the heart & soul of the swans along with Kirky. Off the field, he has never put a foot wrong either.

It's nothing new that he just picked himself up after the contest to go & get strapped up to continue playing.

Don't care whether they win or loose if they give their all like this guy does.
Cheers!

Agreed Tedeski, Jude Bolton is tougher than alot of people think, and has been consistently.
