Home from school today, so got to watch it.
What a fantastic match.
God I hate Sampras, he does not show any passion when he plays. I don't particularly like Agassi either, but I felt sorry for him. They both played so equally, as the scoreboard shows, but Sampras got away in the end.

Hopefully he can go on to win the open because he deserves it after the draw he has had. Watched the last set and a half and it was gripping stuff. He is a champion and is trainedd by ex Fitzroy champion Brett "Moose" Stephens. Good on you Moose

Yeah it was an awesome match. I was going for Andre cos i like him he is pretty cool. And since Pat was out i thought i would go for him but he lost

But kudos to Sampras, seeding him 10th only spurred him on and if he wins the tournament it will be an awesome effort. I feel for Pat and Sampras. Whoever won out of that match which was Sampras has to beat Agassi then Safin and then probably Kuertan.

Something had to have gone wrong though with the seeding. Rafter, Sampras, Agassi and Safin all in the same bracket?? Anyways now i hope Hewitt wins, i know hes a troublemaker but he's an aussie so what can you do.

There was a replay on Fox Sports last night so I caught some of it. Fantastic match and full credit to both players. It's not often you can watch four sets of that standard where neither player drops serve. Kudos to Agassi in defeat too. They are both class acts and will be sorely missed when they give the game away.

Just a quick note about the seedings.

The US Open still seeds like all the other Grand Slams (with the exception of Wimbledon) in that is uses the "ATP Entry System". This is the equivalent of the old ranking system which is based on a rolling 52 weeks of eighteen tournaments. For the top guys these will be the Grand Slams, Master's series and five others. They have to use these tournaments whether they play in them or not. Because Sampras has only being playing the majors with a few leadups this year he loses plenty of points from his previous years results but picks up relatively few for this year. As a result, he has slipped to ten using this system and that's why he was seeded there. So there is no conspiracy out to get him

I think this is going to change next year when the tournament organisers might use thier discretion a little more. Whilst the luck of the draw will always come into any event it's disappointing to see Agassi, Sampras and Rafter all in one quarter of the draw when they were probably three of the top five favourites heading into the tournament.
