It doesn't appear Sando had good awareness that things weren't all rosy.

Really does come back to that his man management skills just are not up to scratch - they need to be elite for a senior coach - unless he has some damn good assistants around him to pick up the slack.

The most surprising thing in all of this is how his contract was extended part way through his 1st contract - Trigg's ability as a CEO was so poor when it came to major issues ... & the Board did little to vet this, which is a concern as most are still there!

I mean, a first time coach would get a chance to develop via feedback, and Sando doesn't seem like the type to ignore feedback.

What annoys me is the emotive media terminology with Sando's exit, eg 'Ruthless' sacking, player 'revolt', 'player backlash', 'player complaints'. Sadly the players have been labelled as a result of all this when it is highly likely all they did was honestly answer a formatted end of season review. There is no value, no mileage, no interest in the media just writing up Sando's deficiencies - it has to pitch the controversial angle and the players are easy meat. Sando was found wanting and it took someone of Roos ilk to step in and make the required changes. Go Crows.

Roo was employed to shake it up, reckoned Sando couldn't coach, got a similar vibe from the players, told the board, they went along with him cos he's Roo, Fagan and Roo were blown away by Walsh, employed him.

Simples.
You mean there could possibly be an explanation that doesn't require you to put your tinfoil hat on before reading it? Get outta town!

I dare say Noble's opinion would have been sought too, especially since he was in the box next to him every week.

Mr B - get the distinct impression that Noble was an ally of Roo, and was on his side the moment he was involved.

The interview is just more fluff. He has a good relationship with Roo?

I seriously doubt that.

I think there were other issues, but I think Sando was just a crap coach - and this board is testament to that, he's been a shit coach for two years.

I love it how he sounds surprised at the fact that the coaches actually have to speak to the players.

We had a pilot/consultant on decision making and procedures sit in on the coaching box on match day. I believe he found the experience chaotic and disjointed, developed a report highlighting the issues and with recommendations on how to address them... The report was ignored.

More sooking by Sando, blaming the players for not being as tough as in his day.

Quickly becoming my least liked former Crows coach:

1. Blight
2. Craig
3. Ayres
4. Sando
5. Cornes

Edit - I refuse to acknowledge Shaw
Why is Cornes below Sando? Always liked his footy ideas and rated him as a coach. Above Ayres as well for me.

How on earth did Sando get the job as head coach in the 1st place

The Matthew Knights rule.

Tell the board what they wanted to hear. Tell them, the playing list is awesome and a small change is the onlt thing thsat needs to change and you get the job.

Blighty got the results and premierships but Cornes did the best job.

He took 56 unknown players in 1990 and moulded them into a cohesive unit who should have played in a grand final 3 years latter.

Cornes set the playing culture up in the early days and did the best job so far.

Ignored by who? Sando or the board? Or both?

My take.

Walsh was coming here in one capacity or another the moment he spoke at baileys funeral. Sanderson said no. Walsh is here, Sanderson is not. Thats it simply.

People forget the Eades and Wallace developed the defensive floods as a result of the brand of free flowing SA football Cornes introduced to the big stage.

Nice guys Finnish last, nice guys let the guy who split his last marriage up, in his team. He'd be a premiership coach multiple times if he wasn't such a nice guy.

Why throw a cheap shot in?

What the **** dsoes that prove? nothing. It doesn't add anything to the conversation.

I'd say the list should read...

1. Blight
2. Craig
3. Cornes
4. Shaw
5. Sanderson
6. Ayres

The only reason I'd rate Shaw ahead of Sanderson is because I feel that even though he wasn't a great coach, he did bring in some top level talent and left the club in a stronger position than when he came in. With Sanderson I feel we sort of broke even and just treaded water. We we're playing very poorly under Craig in 2010/11 so it'd take a brave person to say we actually wen't backwards under Sando. We just didn't really go forward either. Ayres rates last because he actually hurt the club with his shitty recruitment policy.
