Does anyone else get pissed off when you order sandwich at the deli/cafe/or whatever and they automatically assume it’s toasted. Now in my day a sandwich was a nominated filling between two slices of fresh bread, simple really. Now I have to ask for a sandwich not toasted, just serve it raw please...and they still are confused why someone would ask for such a strange delicacy.

Went to Subway today and when asked if I wanted any sauce I said, 'yeah, but only a little bit please'. Then as she picked it up I reiterated 'not too much'.

Chick proceeds to squeeze half the tube out... exactly the same amount as the person before. Fmd.

****en oath, why wouldn't you want it toasted.

On topic, I've said this before but I don't reckon I've ever seen an Asian eat a sandwich before.

The Vietnamese have the best sandwich in the world!

"Go hard on the olives"
Gives me like 2 extra olives.

I know they'd probably be in the shit if they gave every customer extra, but what's an extra handful of olives gonna do?

Please explain the type of shop and sandwich ordered. Then, and only then shall I be forthcoming with judgement.

People go to Subway? wtf. Expensive, gross, and shit for you.

Elite tier:
Banh mi (if you don't get the chilli paste you're a beta)
Schnitzel with last night's half-wilted salad
Roast beef and gravy
Curried egg

That's without going into the roll and burger world.

Good old home made sandwiches are the best. So fresh and yum. But a sandwich for lunch at school/work can gagf. Sitting in your bag all day, disgusting.

Then again, toasted sandwich are gold as well. Always go fresh sandwich when fresh bread is there otherwise toast it. Very rarely buy a sandwich when im out and about unless Vietnamese rolls are available, then definitely get one of those, extra chilli

Freshly sliced ham and sliced beetroot in between supermarket white sliced bread is a thing of pure and simple beauty.

Pro tip

ask for sauce to be put on first (applied directly to bread)

then "change your mind" and then ask them to scrap it off

perfect!

Despise work catering sandwiches. Full of cucumber and carrot and no sauces. Maybe one day it'll click with them the trays are still half full at the end of the day and they'll go "Hey let's do this differently".

Most Subway stores I've been to they skimp on the sauce, I usually have to ask them to put on more.

I guess that's better than chucking on too much initially because it's hard to take it off once it's on there.

Mature cheese and Branston Pickle on fresh wholemeal bread. Timeless classic.

I've not had this.

I like grilled cheddar cheese on toast.

The point of the post wasn’t fresh v toasted, it was more the fact that cafes now automatically think a sandwich is toasted.
