Is that an impressive Eagles performance, or an experimental Westies side? Who were the Eagles' better performers?

I would think it was a bit of an experimental Westies side.
With the big fella gone from up front and Cooneyfro gone from the midfield - Westies would have chucked a few players around to see who can fill those spots.
The fact they picked a 31 player squad would also suggest that Westies were giving everyone a go.
Interesting to note Ben Avery, a good Loxton boy, was in the best players.
Tall, rangy and strong marking the boy is filling out and could easily do a Sam Fisher this year or next.

I wouldn't read too much into Centrals big win over Norwood either - very important to note that Stuart Dew was in the best players and kicked six goals.

Good to see Matty Krieg get in the best players for centrals and kick a few goals. I reckon he will be a regular in the senior side this season. He was unlucky to miss out on the premiership side last season.

A mate saw the second half and thought Westies looked ordinary. His old man was there too and said WWT took their foot off in the second half. He did like what he saw from the eags and mentioned Toia, "Gooood player" .

West played a first-half team made up of mainly reserves players and juniors, with only a handful of league players. They put a much stronger side on the field in the second half. Eagles played far better, but I don't think either side was going anywhere near flat out.
