Is there a serious computer dude here who can give me better instructions on keeping pop ups out of my computer than just saying "Oh go download a pop up stopper."?

And getting off the net is not an option.

I have a program called Pop up ad filter.

So whenever an add comes up it recognizes it and then it will block it whenever its going to come up again.

I had a pop up killer for a while, annoyed me as not only did it kill ad pop ups but also things like the live scores from the AFL website when i opened them and other pop ups that i WANTED to see that would get killed. Very annoying.

I had the same problem. There was a program I had for a while which if you wanted a pop-up window to come up, you could hold down the shift key, which was good for AFL scores an other various things. I forgot the name of the program as I've totally wiped my computer since, I will try an find it out.

my problem is like this, if my computer is idle for about 1 hour, a message box pops up with an anti-virus software advertisment, I think this ad is stored somewhere in my computer, how do I get rid of it??

Korn, use a program called Ad-Aware

or there is another program called SpyBot that CNet inform me is a little better (i've never used it). Search download.com

Its in the most popular section (down the bottom of the page).

These programs search your computers registry and hard drive for known advertising programs such as trackers, etc that send data about your internet usage, etc to the advertiser.

I have been using PopUoCop for 2 years now & it's magic with nothing getting thru.

As these smart-arse AD companies get smarter, so does PopUoCop.

I have tested many other ad stoppers along the way but nuh!, this works well with an easy interface that sits up there in my IE toolbar (beside my Google toolbar) for easy access.

Take control of your computer folks.
