Thanks for posting this mate,watching this video and others on youtube reminded just how good Sav was on his day he was unstoppable and a magnificent kick,he and Bernie Quinlan were the best kicks I have seen from
60 out.

Ps loved Daicos and Buckley but Saverio was my favourite pie I remember when it all started against the Dogs 4 goals on debut,I have always thought
on skill and ability and that superb kicking style he was capable of matching Dunstall and Lockett neither of whom moved as well as him and were not in the same league kicking wise,they were good kicks but not as good as Sav.

After joining north he kicked another 250 goals in his career with his athletic ability he definately should have kicked a 1000 + for his career easily,if he had had more BBB in him he would been unstoppable a lot more often in his career.I like you was devastated when he left if only someone could have straightened him out,what I mean by this is given him a bit of mongrel he really would not have been stopped,just a little bit of Lockett or Stoneham
would have gone a long way.

I remember those bad old days from the early to late 90,s well,we would start off like a train win 6 out of 7 and then we could,nt win a game in june and july for 4 or 5 seasons straight and this went on at the end Mathews reign and right through T Shaw,s coaching career at the Pies it was bloody depressing then being a Pies fan nothing worse than not hearing the song for weeks at a time.It is a good time now though.

Was a fantastic player. Did we even offer him up as trade bait, or just delist him? Was at his last game in '06, even had a sign and everything, while playing for North!

I loved Sav when he played for us, but Shaw seemed to have some problem with playing both he and Anthony at the same time, it was comical really, almost like Shaw's coaching career. Although ultimately it was Malthouse who got rid of him (if I remember properly).

My person fav highlight of Sav's career was when he kicked 9 goals after half time against the Bombers (he kicked his first just before half time also) to finish with a bag of 10.

As for Sav now, wow, what a year he's having, he may make the pro bowl in the NFL (NFL all star game basically), and his coach also mentioned him as a Redskins MVP candidate, he's having his best year ever as a Punter in the US. (But I guess you get to kick a lot more when you play for the Skins).

I was at that game and when I saw who was on him( Someone Gasper ) I said to one of my mate's $20 Sav kicks ten. In the last the whole area in the AFL members knew of the bet and him being a Essendon supporter we all gave it to him when Sav kick number 10. I felt sorry for him so I offered double or nothing Bombers vs Port over here in Sa. Lost my money.

He had the biggest legs I've seen in a football player. Huge man. And wow we had a lot of ordinary players back then, it's no wonder we struggled for years.
