With only 12 teams, I think 11 games is too little for the amount of effort of this draft. And we should really be looking to play as many games as possible (possibly including bye rounds?). Also, there is a week break after round 23, so we shouldn't have to worry about teams resting players.

We could play 20 games, and rounds 21,22, 23 for finals. That's practically everyone twice (9/11 twice or 6/11 twice if we remove byes)

I think we need a ruling on the bye weeks pretty sharpies. For the record I'm pro playing through byes although I haven't drafted that way and will need to factor it in from now on if we're doing it. I have 50% of my picks out in week 15 but like I say I'm still pro playing - love a bit of chaos!!

Do we need a poll or @armooo are you going to make the call

Ok guys…

I have been thinking about how the fixture is going to work. I agree that an 11 round season just wouldn’t work. I don’t like the idea of having everyone play once and then have a small handful of teams play each other twice because it means that fixture draw could have too big of an impact on who makes the finals.

I propose we mix it up and do something I haven’t seen in fantasy footy before. I have been playing around with some fixtures and it seems like it would give us a match every week and it wouldn’t challenge the integrity of the competition too much. I propose that we have some WWE-esque Triple Threat Matches.

The normal fixture with your traditional 1 v 1 matches will take place throughout the season with some triple-threat rounds mixed in between.

In a triple threat match each team will name their best 22 like they would any other week and the scoring will work the same. The only difference is you are competing against two other teams..

The highest scoring team would score 3 points, the next highest scoring team 2 and the lowest scoring team 1 point.

There will be 11 Standard matches throughout the seasons in the following rounds:

1 – 3 – 5 - 6 - 7 – 9 - 11- 12 – 16 - 18 - 20

The triple threat matches would take place in the following rounds:

2 – 4 – 8 – 10 – 13 – 14 – 15 – 17 - 19

The finals will take place over the final three rounds:

Round 21: 3rd vs 6th and 4th vs 5th

Round 22: 2nd vs (3rd/6th) and 1st vs (winner of 4th and 5th)

The value of having the triple threat system in place for mine is that it minimises the effect that the fixture can have on the competition. Every team will play every other team in a triple threat match at least once and each team will play seven teams twice each.

By having a 3-2-1 point system for these games it means that the difference between playing a top team twice and a bottom team twice is minimised. Even if there is a team that is miles better than the rest of the competition, by playing him twice you are only going to be disadvantaged for 2 premiership points maximum as opposed to 4 in a normal fixture.

It also gives us something to do over the bye rounds but the matches wont be enough for teams to have to drastically alter their line up just to accommodate bye rounds which I don’t think is good for the long term health of the competition.

Let me know what you guys think, I hope I’ve explained this alright.

Yep, there's definitely a run on them. It's a key question of this type of draft - do you get on the run and grab that type while they are still there, or swim against the tide and grab other needs?
Durability is also critical. I have brought Ceglar in as a backup for Kreuzer in the hope that Hales departure means more game time.

I like it Armoooo , and it makes bye rounds less important.

Just one more idea.

Effectively we have 20 home and away rounds. What if on only 2 out of the 20 rounds, we play two teams. The other 18 games are normal h2h matches. What I'm saying is on two of the 20 weeks, we play 2 games that weekend. Team A plays Team B and Team C, independently. That way we play 22 games, everyone twice.
