I'm not sure if we're allowed to post a link to Reddit so I'll avoid doing that. But there is a good discussion on that forum about these sorts of scams which provides more info. Most of the experiences shared by victims on Reddit were scammed in the same way my sister was.

When my sister was explaining how she fell victim to the scam, I found it difficult to fully comprehend the situation she landed herself in. When I read the discussion on Reddit, it all made sense so perhaps members here will benefit more by Googling 'task scam reddit'.
