All thru this forum I see things of 'get rid of Kelly and Mackie.'

Mackie was very servicable for us toward the end of the year.

Kelly, whilst he did not have a fantastic year, surely is not the worst player GFC had this year. Are most of you guys just looking for a scapegoat?

He average 17 touches a game in a bad year - not too bad. Surely he deserves one more year to show his worth?

Guys, the team as an entity didnt do good. The guys who performed well in 2005 - with the exception of Corey and Chapman - did not play as well.

Wholesale changes in the team will not do ANYTHING to get us our first premiership since 1963. It will be blokes like Kelly that make or break this team.

The problem with Kelly wasn't his possession count, it was his disposal, was woeful at times. But I like Kelly, and I think we need to keep him.

I think you need to go back and read older posts. The talk of trading Mackie comes from the papers talking about him wanting to return to SA (Homesick??) in which case we were trying to make sure we get something in return.

Kelly is a bit of a scape goat but the fact remains he didn't make an impact (possessions doesn't necisarily = impact) and he dropped down the list of our on ballers to where he struggled for a game. The talk of trading him comes from the fact that he is a good player and would be worth something in trade especially if we could get a speedy running player for him (or early draft in so called super draft). Just to give us a more versatile midfield rather than "one paced". Obviously we wouldn't trade him unless the deal was suitably in our favour and personally the talk of getting tarrant over is in my opinion def. not in our favour.

Kelly is lazy, rude and arrogant. He believed his own publicity and now it's come back to bite him.

I was amazed to see his good mate, Bomber, demote him to the VFL. I'm all for trading him. And he'll probably star at another club, because it's just his attitude. Frankly though, he's not welcome here.

Now that Thompson has been confirmed as staying, Mackie is a 99% chance to go. He does not get along with Thompson at all, and was disappointed in his treatment this year (justified IMO).

He has a big offer on the table from Port Adelaide, and we'll be lucky to get much for him unfortunately :(
