just on the radio!!!!!!!

Gotta love the QC's.

McBirney tried to nail him at the tribunal. But lost his case. McBirney was on the prosecution.

Watch our players get the hard end of the stick this Friday night.

Firstly, you beauty :thumbsu::thumbsu:.

Now question: I've read the tribunal points documents thingy available on the AFL site, but I didn't realise that it was common for Umps to present a 'case' at tribunal i.e. the ump doesn't go in and attempt to 'prosecute' so to speak. Can anybody clear this up?

I reckon this decision is as big as a win or a loss !!
The little fella has been one of the biggest reasons we've turned it around.
Apparently one of the great fellas too !
Onya Byron, play like its your last game and we'll win !!
You beauty !!

Oh McBurney? you mean the ump that tried to get the blues over the line?
have a drink on me McBurney, i hope you choke.

Justice prevailed :thumbsu:

FREMANTLE’S Byron Schammer is free to play against Hawthorn after being found not guilty of striking Carlton’s Marc Murphy by the AFL tribunal on Tuesday night.

Schammer was facing a one-week ban for the incident but told the tribunal that contact was negligible and said there was not enough force to constitute a strike.

Schammer told the tribunal the action was more a pull on the jumper than a strike and that Murphy had staged for a free kick.

Despite evidence from umpire Stephen McBurney that he had his eyes trained on both players and deemed the force of the contact worthy of reporting, the tribunal took only 10 minutes to agree with Schammer and find him not guilty.

Schammer said he would now be able to concentrate on the match against the Hawks.

“I’m very pleased with the decision and really looking forward to being in the team that takes on Hawthorn on Friday night,” Schammer said.

I love the Schammer Tequila shot !!
He's let me down in the past, but what Freo player hasn't.
The kid is on a roll, put him on Mitchell Harv's, he'll make the dude accountable !

Well Stephen McBlindy is just admitting that he's a biased one eyed carlton fan or just plain negligent because if he had his eyes so firmly 'trained on both player' then he would have caught the original hit to Schammer's head by the diver Murphy and given a free kick (at least) ... what an idiot .

Geez thats a small win for footy. Scary thought that our game is heading down this path. We need some serious counselling for these umps. The poor ba%#$ds are too sacred to miss anything these day that clubs are now having to spend money on QC's to explain the freakin obvious.
Shammer is a very important cog in our wheel. Freo by 25.:thumbsu:

Did Schammer have to fly to melbourne? If so it is another ridiculous advantage Melbourne teams have. Spending 18+ hours on flying/preparation for court does impact recovery.

How about the umpire gets a strike now, 3 strikes and he gets relegated to under 12's for the rest of the year.

I'm pretty sure they do it via video link up.

Yea, AFAIK, this was sorted out some years ago as it was obviously a disadvantage to the interstaters. You still can go there if you choose and sometimes players do because it's considered an advantage to be there in person to show your remorse etc. ... or some such crap anyway.

Suck shit McBurney. You failed both times you tried to screw us over in the last 4 days.

surely the AFL have to do something about the umpire now.

in his own testimony doesnt back up the video evidence.

FFC should write a letter of complaint

I'm glad that justice has prevailed, but how the hell did the report get through the MRP?

I can kinda understand McBierney making the report, as he was basically having a guess at most things on the night.

However, its clearly apparent on the TV replays that there was minimal to no actual contact.

The MRP is meant to right those wrongs isn't it?
