Schammer Out for a Month

Just heard before that Byron Schammer fractured his wrist (the same one he had operated on) and will miss the start of the season. It's a bit of a blow, but I guess it leaves room for a few blokes to take their places in the team. I think we have enough depth in the midfield to cover him for the moment.

i saw the brace on his hand last night on the news, i thought it was old footage.
not good news, hopefully he makes a full recovery.

Although Schammer is one of my favourites, at this stage of his career he's not really the type of player you slit wrists over losing for a couple of weeks of the regular season.

Apparently could be up to 8 weeks. These types of fractures tend to linger long term if not healed properly so the club may take the safety first approach. The problem with Schammer being injured is that with Browne and Schofield also out of the team we may lack pace for the early part of the season.
