I really liked the look of Schammer in his games last year, But with Cook, Bell, Haselby, Pavlich , holding down big midfield roles next year will he get the game time he needs to develop into a superstar. Spoke to the guy who recommended him to the dockers not long ago and he said Schammer is really excited bout playing.

What percentage of games would you expect him to play this year. I understand that the time he gets each game will depend on CC's rotation policy.

Boxhead... Are you the same Boxhead that posted at Dockerland after the first Western Derby this season?

As for Schammer... thought he got enough game exposure this year including some extra important contributions like slotting that last term goal against the Lions. He has great endeavour and makes good use of the ball when he gets it.
Reckon the kid will really turn it on in the coming years.

Youngest player in the AFL last year, so anything he may have achieved was huge... just playing AFL footy was a great achievement. There's bigger and better coming from the young Schammster.
Let's hope his older team-mates in fellow South Aussies Pav and Clive, as well as his obsession with Belly, can convince him that Freo is where he needs to keep playing his best footy over the years to come.

Nah not same boxhead whom posted on dockerland.

You guys make some great points, i have spoken to a few members who were worried about some of his disposal skills after "that turnover" vs Essendon , but as you said he was the youngest player in the AFL and he still played 60 % of the season for a well performing team.

Thanks a lot for your feedback.

I will go out on a limb with Schammer, Ive penciled him in as leadership material down the track. It might be 10 yrs but the kid can play, doesnt mind getting in there (Fronted Richo at 3/4 time at Subi this year) and does communicate on the ground.

Quality player, surprised he wasn't taken earlier. His size shouldn't matter much because he can evade very well. The next Bell.

That a big wrap you've given him ozzult.

He is regularly next to Bell, a bit of a shadow just trying to find out what is required to make the grade. Obviously he has a very good footy attitude.

Referring more to his size and stature, rather than talent etc.

He will be good, but how good is anyones guess.

Most "kids" that play AFL in their first year have played a few games with the big boys in their local leagues. This lad was playing in junior grades in the SANFL (he was one of the best) last year with West Adelaide, look out when gets used to playing with bigger guys. You won't get much better value out of early draft pick than this bloke.

Just incase anyone cared

Heres his stats from thie year, highlighted the ones i thought were significant.

The reasons i have highlighted what i have are:

1. 16 possesions againts Western Bulldogs : In just his 3rd AFL game Schammer picked up his first double possessions and really grabbed alot of peoples eyes being the youngest player in the league.

2. The game against the Brisbane lions was a phenominal performance for young schammer, not only shining as a rising star player but as an integral part of the dockers team, 24 possesions and a crucial goal in his 10th game....

3. Following up his blistering performance against brisbane i reckon schammer showed his ability to be consistent by picking up 16 possesions and 4 tackles against collingwood away, when collingwood were very dominant.

schammer certainly has all the makings of a superstar but do you think in maybe a few years he'll want to go home to adelaide?

i sure hope not

The Hammer is going to be one of the true super stars of the competition in a couple of years. He is going to be the full package.
I know this is going to come as a huge wrap, but I reckon he could be the next Michael Voss.
He is going to be of similar build to Voss in a couple of years.Heavy around the hips and thighs and strong in the upper body.Bodies like that are very hard to move from over the ball. And the kid has all the skills.Only thing I am not sure of is his over head marking.
I am sure that if the Freo Club do well on and off the field he will stay for the honour of playing in a winning team.
I am sure he will be a Docker for quite a while.

Sabrerism.

Yeh he looks good, buts lets not weigh him down with the expectations of being the best player in the game.

I'll be happy with a Bell clone.

Come on. The next Michael Voss is taking it one step too far.

Yeah it probably is, but Schammer has a certain toughness about him that is Voss-like. Once his body has filled out over the next couple of years he will seldom get knocked off the ball and he's got all the enthusiasm and leadership qualities to be a great player.

Dunno about that. Even if he does fill out, he will still only weigh maybe 80-85 because of his height, I wouldn't be surprised, even when he is at his max weight to see him getting knocked off the ball.

Damn straight, The lookout has been a shambles of a stinkpit since early 2002 when the cover charge went up to $5 and the chartreuse shots went up from $4 to $6. Then the chicks with some form of class all left and next thing you know it's skank city and it got to the point where you had to write yourself off to have a good night.

I hate the Lookout it Licks Balls.

The Cott is best goin around and the tuppy is great.

Yep, ever since they brought in the cover charge it has gone downhill.

Too many skanky tarts with too much skin hanging out of there g-string, and too many iceheads looking for a smash.
