Does anyone else think Peter Schwab and the whole match/coaching committee are struggling at the moment?

He was totally out coached and out prepared especially in the lead up against Melbourne. And after every break the players seemed to lose momentum.

Then against Brisbane his game plan seemed to concede defeat in the hope it wouldn't be too bad. I accept he didn't have a lot to work with.

Also blamed the players for not following team plans seemed to be rather a communication problem when he conceded every player did the wrong thing. It's hard to believe they all got the message wrong.

Maybe they are still adjusting to life after Connelly but the midfield which he was in charge of especially looks worse.

no i don't think so at all!
he is still a learning coach!
after seeing brisbane and essendon last night kevin sheedy was out coached too so im not worried bout the brissie match no more!

I must admit there have been some decisions he has made which have put a queery over him but he will only get better when he actually has a full team to choose from!

go hawks
sammy micthell is a star!!!!!!!!

I actually might write an article on this issue now that you have given me the idea Zach, for my website...

If you are interested in writing an article on the topic just reply here and we will arrange to have your article put on the website..

Cheers.

I'll see what I can do.

He was OK today, it's hard to judge though as Connelly would have had the advantage.

His willingness to sacrifice Rehn almost as an irrelevant player to the match and use Thompsons running ability and the fact as a ruckman he wouldn't get picked or tagged as an extra midfielder/link player was a gutsy move.

I just worry even in the last half/quarter he went back to the defensive man on man, he seems nervous to let the boys win but rather beleives he has to stop them losing.

It's hard to say as he was one of my favourite players growing up. I don't want to be too harsh. I guess after Jeans every one seems a little... well not Jeans. Jeans though always said Schwab would be the most likely to coach out of the group he had.

Nope he's not struggling. The team won their first match against the Dockers, who will be a very big challenge for every team in the competition. Hawthorn did not play well at the weekend and that is the fault of the players and not the coach.

Chris Connolly (not Connelly) is coaching really well at the moment.

I think Scwabby is feeling too much pressure at the moment. Especially over the Croad/Hodge thing.

We should all lay off and let it all unfold.

Mind you I do think McDonald should be given more of a tactical role. Box Hill's performances have been outstandidng.
