i mentioned something about it in another thread and i go this from an article on the afl site.

AS he slogged up a hill in the Grampians this week, ''The Ox'' knew he would receive no sympathy from his teammates if he told them the pain in his legs had spread to his stomach.

David Schwarz, 29, has been an AFL footballer long enough to realise pain is a by-product of preseason training and all he would receive would be ridicule.

He persisted and went on hurting, telling some club officials on Wednesday he was feeling ordinary and the pain in the mid-section was persisting.

The next day Schwarz, a major factor in Melbourne's attack plans next season, was in hospital having his appendix removed and being sent all the best wishes he could handle from the Demons during their sea-and-land training session yesterday.

Assistant coach Chris Fagan said the operation had been a success and that Schwarz would be home this weekend and back on light duties soon.

It's not really that big a deal.

He'll be off his feet for no more than week and be right to go again after Chrissy I'd say.

It's a shame, but nothing to worry about.

CFH.

Sympathy schmympathy. If that thing had burst, he would have been in a lot of trouble.

I remember when my brother had appendicitis. Chucking up all over the place. Not fun.

What exactly does the appendix do, anyway? It can't be that important if you can live without it.

well im gonna try and explain this the best i an cos i cant draw diagrams. But yeah the appendix is just like a little thing off the lining of the stomach. and when it gets blocked (i wont say what usually blocks it), it inflames and gets infected, producing poisonous toxins it is bursts. Things that can cause are like irregular eating patterns or sudden change in diet. so i would say that oxy wasnt eating right, which is hard if u r in the middle of no where. LOL
