Who will win it this season. It would seem that it may be a bit of a contest this year. Obviously Iverson is the man to beat but KVH is taking some of the heat off Iverson this season and for the first time in a long time, the 76ers have a reliable second scorer.

Can Kobe continue to dominate and win the scoring title, he is currently 3rd at 28.7ppg, or will his numbers decrease like they always do when Shaq returns. What about Shaq. Has a career average of around 27ppg? Up's that a bit and it's his...

Stackhouse has a shot. Jordan looks disinterested in scoring points, hardly taking 15 shots a game. Stack has being asked to be the scorer he once was a few years back where he averaged 29.8ppg in 2000/01!

The Truth is sitting 7th with 25.2ppg but is certainly capable of getting 30 a night. Can the Big Dog keep his scoring up all year. We all know he can score but with Reef and Terry shooting the ball, will he see enough of it to go all the way. He was the early scoring leader before a couple of quiet games has dragged his average down to 24.7 and he sits 8th.

No McDyess...No Sprewell... = Houston scoring a lot! I doubt Houston could keep it up all year but with Sprewell apparently on the block and Dice out all season, he will be required to score a lot. He is currently averaging 26ppg and is 5th in the league.

Then there is Stevie Franchise. He is well and truly back this season after a couple of seasons of on again, off again injuries. He is averaging 30.4ppg this season and is second in the league but this is new territory for him. His previous best was 21.6ppg last season in 57 injury plagued games.

Last but not least is Iverson's biggest challenger. Tracy McGrady. Currently leading the league in scoring at 30.7ppg. He doesnt look like slowing down and we all know he can score from pretty much anywhere. Hill and Miller also score a lot but T-Mac is always there first option on offence and has already posted a 47 point game this season. The highest for the season so far if im not mistaken.

So who will take it home?

Good question...

T-Mac can do it, but with Grant Hill playing so well at the moment and playing only minimal court time the temptation will be there to put his minutes up when Orlando begin to struggle (they can't keep this up the whole season??!??)... thus taking points of T-Mac.

Stackhouse is a good chance... after watching the game against the Lakers he was their 1st option on every play...

When Sprewell returns he'll kick Houston's ass for taking so many shots...
I'm liking the Big Dog alot this year...
Kobe won't keep this up when Shaq returns...

But, my heart is with Allen Iverson, eventhough it seems as if he's making a huge effort to pass the ball more often this year... he is still the answer...

There are only 4 genuine contenders imho.

Tracy McGrady, Paul Pierce, Allen Iverson and Steve Francis.

McGrady is capable of maintaining his 30ppg however it may drop off when he has a bad run with form.

Whereas, AI, no matter how hurt, or out of form he is, he still will get his 25-30 a night.

Pierce has the chance to improve on his numbers, although the scoring support in Boston has improved this season.

Francis could win the title if he was more selfish, just passes to Mobley and Griffen too much.

So it looks like:

1st: Iverson
2nd: McGrady
3rd: Francis
4th: Pierce

1. t-mac (MVP season)

2. iverson (kvh and half of the sixers lineup to go down with injury... but a.i will still score 30 a game with 2 broken arms!)

thought dirk diggler would be up there this season... but, too much sharing going on there...

I mean, how often does Cat Mobley actually give the ball up? ;)

He seems to maintain his average of 2.5 assists a game :p
Mind you, Franchise still manages to get alot of shots.

Come hell or high water A.I gets his points. A bad night will still yield him 16-20 points.

Top 4
1. A.I
2. Shaq
3. McGrady
4. Franchise

AI is much like Jordan throughout the 90's. You now heading into every game that he is gonna score 25 to 35 on average. A bad night will still bring 20 but a good night could see 40+ sometimes 50+. So I just cant see AI losing his title. But if anyone can take it off him, it will be T-Mac in an MVP season.

If Hill plays all season, i cannot see McGrady winning the MVP.

Whilst his scoring is up, his rebounds are down SIGNIFICANTLY, his assists are down, and his steals are well down.

He is still a superstar, but he isn't the all-round threat he was when Hill was injured.

Yeah but you hardly ever see an MVP in a losing team. If Orlando keep winning all there game and end up with 55+ wins then T-Mac is a chance. Particularly if he wins the scoring title.

I think the MVP got a little tainted though in the past decade. Since MJ won his first in the 87/88 season. He really should have won every single one since then...well maybe not the late 80's but certainly every single one in the years he played in the 90's.

MJ was beaten to the award by Barkley in 93 and Malone in 97. Absolute crap. In case nobody knows...the award stands for Most Valuble Player. Karl Malone and Charles Barkley are not more valuble than Michael Jordan and he proved it both years by beating the MVP in the NBA Finals.

But that was just due to his dominance. Nowadays there are a lot of guys on the same level so it's tough to pick an MVP out of Kidd, Duncan, Shaq, T-Mac etc etc...
