Ruckman, plays for Port Adelaide Magpies.

Unlucky not to be in the 1st team, being kept out by Miklejohn and Cloke. Sounds like he's going to be a good ruckmen, player well for SA U-18 on the weekend.

Anyone else got info on him?

Hope Port pick him up might solve our ruck problem.

Good athleticism, very good speed and agility for a ruckman, but unsure on his vertical leap which is important, seems more to just stand there and ruck rather than leap at it. Skills are good for a ruckman and accumulates average numbers, but potential is there. Strong mark overhead and can go forward and kick goals. Has a fair bit of improvement left in him, but a late first round prospect ATM, maybe higher IMO.

Surely Lycett would be a good fit for Geelong if he's available at 23?

Ottens turns 31 next year.

Simpson & West haven't forced their way into the 22 ahead of Blake and become regulars. West (2005 draft) and Simpson (2007 draft) haven't had a breakout season like Mumford who was picked after them. West and Vardy are tweeners compared to the 200 cm plus rucks who are now the league's best.

Saints might jump at Lycett at 24.

The Catters have Carlton's pick 37 to use on a mid or half forward.

Lycett might be a gift for WC if he gets past Brisbane and North who mightn't be looking at rucks.

Doubt it. I'd say key defence is more of an urgent need with the age of the defence.

Simpson is rated and West got a new 2yr contract, so I'd say the priority will be to see what they can do next year (Blake to VFL) and then use our compensation pick for a ruckman in a couple of years time if we need one. Another ruckman would be nice, but given we've only got 4 picks this year, you can only cover so many areas at once, and we have more urgent priorities I think. Having said that, Lycett's worth 23 and I wouldn't be against him, but I think in the end because we have ruckmen who are young, we'll place some faith in them in the short term, whereas we have next to no young talls coming through at the back except Gillies, so that will probably be what we look to address first, by which time Lycett will sail on through.

The really interesting thing will be whether the Saints take him, or whether they look for a runner who can give them a more immediate impact instead. They might, and some other sides might take a tall like Lycett early because there's more depth in the mids, than the talls, be they defenders or ruckmen, in this draft.
