Pendles has embraced stuff like goal celebrations in the last few years. It’s fun for supporters of all ages, most of all his kids.

I’d guess it’s dawned on him that there’s nothing wrong with a bit of showmanship and that he might as well enjoy himself while he is lucky enough to still be playing.

Has the right to celebrate how we wants and wear what he wants. The man has done so much for this club and deserves to be celebrated.
Of course he can.

But people can also think it seems an un-Pendles like thing to do too.

For all the outside opinions of how sinister Collingwood FC is and Pendles

Selfish of pendles
Rort by the club to take advantage of a home game
Costing the club a win against hawks if he doesnt play

This is a rare occurrence. Only other was Harvey and look how the Roos treated him.

Club hasnt set a foot wrong

I feel they are pushing Pendles into the celebrations more than his own initiative
Yes they will make money out of it , why not though
The fans also want this.

If he rested for a non game breaking game 70 odd games ago , no one says a thing

Who cares about the outside noise

If he was rested 70 odd games ago for a non-game breaking he wouldn't be rested BECAUSE of a game breaking record. Which is the entire point.

The Hawthorn 5-day rest isn't the issue, although that is sandwiched between two 9-day breaks. He is being rested for two games in three weeks. He will only have played one game in almost a month by the time he runs out vs West Coast.

Rest assured Pendles will also be making plenty out of the jumper/memorabilia sales - and rightly so.

Pendlebury has played a total of 70 games against Carlton and Essendon combined. (Carlton 34 & Essendon 36).

For a record of 50 wins, 1 draw and 19 loses.
(Carlton 26 W, 8L & Essendon 24 W, 1D, 11L).

He has absolutely dominated these two clubs.

Looking at Geelong and Hawthorn, yeah it’s probably good he’s not playing the Hawks…

The gold thing not my taste but whatever good on him.
My issue with the rests is he should've been rested for essendon. Or GWS.
Even though he is 38 he is unbelievably important to finals and premiership chances. Equal second behind Daicos.
We need him Thursday and next few weeks.

He wanted to play what could be his last Anzac Day game.

And he only played 46 mins in the Giants match.

Thats exactly the point.

He wouldve been rested at 34 years due to his age.

Was this all questioned when he was managed last year?

Yes all the players should have been rested last year. Especially after rd 16 when it was obvious a top 4 finish was on the way.
Yet when I and other posters suggested this we were endlessly mocked.
Yet now everyone is suggesting one of the most important players be rested for the most important game of the season??
Strange logic

Regardless it didnt really de-rail our final series. We werent far off another GF.

The hysterics over Pendlebury missing a 5 day break game is a bit OTT.

The gold jumper does not surprise as Pendles as always been about brand but amazingly a bloke on another forum said that he has been our top rated played over the past 5 weeks and top 9 in the whole of the league over the same time frame. That really is a shove in the face for a lot of the non performers in the league, including some of our own, probably none moreso than our skipper. so we can only hope that he uses his superiority to inspire them rather than them expecting to keep putting them on his ageing shoulders. Where would we be without him?

21 days before his historic 433rd match. Media overreactions to his special gold jumper and missing games so he can break the record at home. Give it a break.

You expected anything Different from the Media?

It’s true, taking player ratings at face value (which I don’t, at least on their own). If you adjust for 3+ games played he moves up one and Nick joins the top 20.

I couldn't give a stuff about what colour Pendlebury's number is. At the end of the day it's just revenue raising and nothing to do with the game.

The legend was born. When he kicked the goal to seal the game in that semi-final, he was only 19 years old
